SERGEANT GEORGE W. ROEDER Dies While On Furlough
Taken ill while away on a five day furlough, First Sergeant George W. Roeder, son of Mrs. Emma Roeder, of Brunswick, died at his mother's home at that place yesterday of pneumonia, following an illness of about five days. Sergeant Roeder had been in poor health some years ago and went to Arizona where he enlisted at the outbreak of the war between the United States and German. He enlisted and was assigned to the Aero Squadron. At the time of his death he was on a government mission from Texas to Pittsburgh, and having a short time to spare went to Brunswick to visit his mother. While there he was taken suddenly ill. He was given every attention and a sister, who is a trained nurse, came from Baltimore to care for him.
He was described as a young man of splendid habits and was well liked. He was aged about 24 years. In addition to his mother one sister, one brother and two half-sisters survive. The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, and interment will be made in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.
