Mr. Leo Paul Myers

Leo Paul Myers, 89, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Lorien in Mount Airy.

He was born June 6, 1920, in Charles Town, W.Va., and was the son of the late George William Myers and Blanche Estelle Painter Myers.

He was a retired inspector with American Railroads.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Leo was a member of the Steadman-Keenan Post 96 of the American Legion, where he served on the Honor Guard; VFW Post 10421 of Brunswick; and the Elks Lodge 684 of Frederick.

He is survived by one daughter, Frances "Susie" Lee and husband, Bill, of Jefferson; two grandchildren, Katherine Lee and William Lee III and wife, Mary; four great-grandchildren, Katrina Shaffer, Ashlee Beebe Lee, Jessica Lee and Russell Heine; a special nephew, David Taulton and family; and one brother, Wilbur Myers of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Eury Myers; and two brothers, William Myers and Elmer Painter.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, with the Rev. Roland England officiating. Interment will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Bruns-wick.
