Mr. R. Lee Leatherman

R. Lee Leatherman, 83, of Knoxville, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Betty Virginia Lerch Leatherman, who died Aug. 21, 2007.

Born Aug. 25, 1927, in Knoxville, he was the son of the late Leslie D. and Nellie M. Leatherman. Mr. Leatherman was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired carpenter with Blake Construction in Hagerstown and also with Artery Homes in Montgomery County. He was a member of the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville, and was a member of the Burkittsville Ruritan Club and the American Legion in Brunswick.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews; and one cousin, Carroll F. Leatherman Jr. of Myersville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, from the funeral home. The Rev. Tim Ritchey Martin will officiate. Interment will be made in the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myersville
