     John "Jack" H. Wheeler, 76, of Brunswick , passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at the Kline Hospice House. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Shirley A. Wheeler.
     Born Oct. 18, 1932 in Florida , he was the son of the late Howard F. and Esther R. Wheeler.
Jack retired from Brunswick CSX railroad after 40 years of service; served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
     He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church; a life member of the Brunswick Eagles aeries #1136; a life member of the Brunswick Moose Club; and a member of the Brunswick American Legion.
     He is survived by daughter, Teresa Barnhouse and husband Tony Barnhouse of Brunswick; sons, John Wheeler Jr. and wife Cheri of Knoxville and Anthony Wheeler of Daytona Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Mitch Barnhouse and wife Shawn, Shanda Swann and husband J.J., Heather, Ryan, Jacob, and Rachel Wheeler; two step-grandchildren, Kendra and Jessie Barnhart; five great-grandchildren, Hannah and Liam Barnhouse, McKayla, Konner, and Anna Swann; sister, Shirley Utterback and husband Bill; sisters-in-law, Jeannine Wheeler, Charlotte Butler, Ruth Creswell, and Sylvia Phillips.
     Besides his wife and parents Jack was also preceded in death by his beloved dog, Hope, and his only brother, Franklin (Gene) E. Wheeler.
     The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave. , Brunswick . Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the funeral home. Rev. Mr. Lawrence Teixeira will officiate.
     Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery.
