Mr. .Ervin "Johnny" Hess

Ervin "Johnny" Hess, 85, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010, at College View Nursing Home in Frederick.

He was born April 13, 1924, in Martinsburg, W.Va., and was the son of the late Bernie Hess and Lydia Miller Hess.

He was a retired supervisor with Paca Prett in Baltimore.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Merchant Marines, serving in World War II.

He is survived by one daughter, Dolly Willis and husband, Gary, of Edgewood; one granddaughter, Donna Marie Cox of Dundalk; one grandson, Jerry C. Elmore of Salisbury; and one great-grandson, Kenneth Pohl Jr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Nichol Hess.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, with the Rev. Douglas Fraim officiating. Interment will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Brownsville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Junior Hackley, Justin Shackelford, Glenn Ault, Mike Ault, John Bodeen and Mike Cooper.
