*Edgar Virts Jr Class 1940      Carlton Calvin Barger Sr., of Frederick, passed away at Frederick Memorial Hospital on Tuesday November 19, 2013 at the age of 97. He was married to the late Helen Schaffer Barger for 53 years.
Betty Lou Arvin (Miller) Class 1942 Mr. Barger was born on September 8, 1916 in Brunswick. He was the son of the late Charles Albert Barger and Ethel Frye Barger.
Dorothy Taulton (Merchant) Class 1943      He is survived by one son, C. Calvin Barger Jr. of Frederick: one daughter, H. Lucille Callahan of Frederick: and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Albert Barger Jr.: son-in-law Lawrence Callahan: and daughter-in-law Josephine Barger.
Ann Longbrake (Mock) Class 1944      He is also remembered by a special and devoted friend Katherine Campbell. The family would also like to thank some very special people in his life, Barbara and Gary Mann, for their thoughtfulness and help.
Virginia Dagenhart (Bruchie) Class 1947      He was very proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Then he went on to work for the Eveready Co., the Modern Lighting Co., and Fort Detrick. He ended his career working for the National Bureau of Standards.

Doris Jean Scheckles Class 1951      Mrs. Patricia Ann Bruning, 79, of Knoxville, MD, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late John W. Bruning.Born April 19, 1934 in West Haven, CT, she was the daughter of the late William Saars and Cathryn McNulty Martin.Mrs. Bruning was of Catholic Faith.
Dolores Kline Class 1954      She was a member of American Legion Post #96 Auxiliary. She was a hardcore video gamer, especially Zelda. She was a sixteen year breast cancer survivor. Mrs. Bruning and her late husband were the original proprietors of The Jefferson Pastry Shoppe.
Patricia Taulton (Summers) Cls 1954      Mrs. Bruning was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the highest priority in her life.She is survived by six children: John Bruning and wife Cindy, Kathleen Dempsey and husband Tom, Colleen Macomber and husband Scott, Denise Poling and husband Harry, Francis Bruning and wife Brenda, and Kevin Bruning and wife Patricia;twenty-one grandchildren, one great granddaughter, a sister, Cathryn Imbriani, husband Vincent and their children, and a sister-in-law Joan Castellon. She was preceded in death by a grandson J.C. Bruning and a great granddaughter Kennedy Dempsey.

Brian Snoots Class 1992      Ms. Dolores Virginia Kline, 76, of Frederick, passed away on Tuesday October 8, 2013 at the Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy, MD.Born October 16, 1936 in Brunswick MD she was the daughter of the late Richard Kline Sr. and Zoe Wire.
     She retired from Hartz & Company and most recently worked at Sam's Club in Frederick. Dolores was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church of Brunswick.She is survived by a sister Carolyn Cogle and Paul of Clearwater, FL. A Niece Lori DeLorenzo and Joe of Titusville, FL. Three nephews Richard F. Kline and Laura of St. Matthews, S.C. Paul B. Cogle and Christine and son Daniel of Harpers Ferry WV. Jeffery Cogle and son Shane of Harpers Ferry WV. A Sister- in-law Charlotte Kline of Satellite Beach, Fl. and her long time friend Lorraine Anders and family.She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, A brother Richard Kline, Jr. and a sister Shirley Kline.
       The family will receive friends on Friday October 11, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick where funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Harold Jones. Helena Bickenton (Brady)      She was one of seven children born to the late Jerry and Helen Eshbaugh. She entered into this life on August 11, 1945 and into her eternallife on September 30, 2013.She graduated from Brunswick High School in the Class of 1963. Most of her career was in banking and insurance, but the "job" she cherished most was that of being a greeter at her beloved Fellowship Bible Church in Shenandoah Junction, WV.She is survived by her husband Lacy, daughter Terri, Terri's partner, Bo and her grandchildren, Bailey and Logan. She also leaves her brothers, Jerry Eshbaugh (wife Bonnie), Bill Eshbaugh, Mike Eshbaugh (wife Jamie), Joe Eshbaugh (wife Carolyn), Kenny Eshbaugh (wife Sueann) and a sister, Pat Eshbaugh. She has numerous nieces and nephews.

* Richard Maurice Floyd      Mrs. Clare Ann Evancho, 67, of Brunswick, MD died Saturday, September 28, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Ronald Evancho, who predeceased her on July 20, 2010. Born October 17, 1945 in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosemarh y Held Erlinger.
Earle Lynn Follin      Upon her graduation from Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, Clare studied at Cambria Rowe Business College. She worked in the medical industry for 33 years before retiring to help care for her grandchildren.She loved spending time with her five grandchildren and traveling with her family to their beach house in Fenwick Island, DE, and driving out on the beach at Assateague Island.
George Lee "Sam" Frye      Clare was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and her favorite holiday was Christmas.Surviving are her daughters, Mikki Collins and husband, Scott Collins, of Portland, OR, and Katie Davidson and husband, Rick Davidson, Jr. of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Althea Collins, Vivian Collins, Evan Collins, Meghan Davidson, and Ashlee Davidson; her cousin, Linda Zima of Johnstown, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin Clarence Miller      C. Edward (Ed) Flora Jr. passed away Sunday September 15, 2013 at the Powell House Assisted Living home in Payson, Arizona surrounded by his daughter, son, and brother.
* John Mills      Ed was born on August 20. 1941, in Brunswick, Md. He was the son of the late Carroll E. Flora Sr. and Frances Anders Flora.He enlisted in the US Army on June 11, 1959, and was trained as an Infantry Scout until his honorable discharge in May 1962.
John Mitchell Redmon      He reenlisted on July 24, 1964. After completing airborne school he was assigned as an Infantry Scout with the 2nd Battalion of the 509th Infantry Regiment in West Germany from October 1964 to June 1966. His next assignment was Squad Leader with the 3rd Battalion of the 7th Infantry Brigade at Fort Benning, Ga., from June to December 1966.
Brittany “Pippy” Kay Reiter      He was then deployed with his unit to South Vietnam. Sgt. Flora transferred to the 5th Special Forces Group MASC SOG in South Vietnam in August 1967. On July 21st 1967 while on a special mission he was shot and captured by the Viet Cong. Sgt. Flora was listed as Missing in Action for his entire captivity of 2,055 days.
Mildred Reynolds "Reese"      After his return and treatment for the injuries he sustained, he then served as an MP Supervisor with the 111th Military Police Company at Fort McClellan, Alabama from August 1973 until April 1974.
Pete Reynolds       He attended the US Army MP School at Fort Gordon, Georgia and served as 1st Sergeant, 111th Military Police until June 1975. His final assignment was as 1st Sergeant of the 236th MP Detachment in Washington DC.
Clarence Daniel Shafer      He retired from the Army June 13th 1977. During his military service he was decorated with many citations including the Silver Star, Bronze Star w/V device and 2OLC, Purple Hearts w/2OLC, Good Conduct Medal w/5 Loops, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Presidential Unit Citation and the Meritorious Unit Citation. The inscription on his Silver Star reads: Sergeant First Class Carroll E. Flora Jr. distinguished himself by gallantry and intrepidity in action as a Prisoner of War in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force in Southeast Asia during July 1967. With profound courage and a strong conviction in the Code of Conduct he escaped from an enemy prisoner of war camp, knowing that the odds for success were slight and that if recaptured he would receive torture and long periods in solitary confinement. The success of his escape was short lived and he was recaptured and punished.
Alice Drew (Summers)      The soldier's actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military services and reflected great credit on himself and the United States Army.
Hilda Lee "Summers"      After his retirement from the Army he attended college and worked in the Banking industry until his final retirement.Ed is survived by daughter Teresa LaFratte and husband Barry of Charles Town, West Virginia, son Dwayne Flora of Payson, Arizona. Brother Frank Flora and wife Louise of Westminster, Md., 2 Sisters Carol Ann Sivic and husband Rick of Cumberland Md., Dixie Lipscomb and husband Roy of Brunswick, Md., Grandson Adam LaFratte of Inwood WV., and Great grandson Landen LaFratte of Inwood WV. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mamie Scott (Weeden)      Ed is also remembered fondly by his first wife, mother of his children and friend JoAnn Flora May.The cremation was provided for by the Messinger Payson Funeral Home in Payson Arizona.The family will hold a private Celebration of his Life at a time to be determined. As were his wishes he was cremated and a private service was held at the Powell House in Payson Arizona, as well as at his home in Vernon, Arizona. Internment of his ashes will be at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington Virginia in the Spring of 2104 with full Military Honors

     Donald "Sammy" Robert Cole, Jr., 58, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born June 24, 1955 in Ranson, WV he was the son of Connie Cole of Knoxville, MD and the late Donald Robert Cole, Sr.He was a member of Harvest Life Ministries Church in Boonsboro, MD
     ."Sammy" was retired from PEPCO as an electrical mechanic. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
     In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Angela Flook and husband, Gary of Harpers Ferry, WV and Samantha Cole of Harpers Ferry; two sisters, Patty Longerbeam and Karen Edelen of Knoxville, MD; life companion and wife, Barbara Cole of Harpers Ferry; three grandchildren, Codie, Brooke and Dylan "Doodlebug", and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many beloved friends.He was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Cole and his brother, Terry Cole.
     Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Jeff Summers officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, WV.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday and Sunday from 7-9 p.m.

     Mr. Kenneth Irvin Deener, 78, of Knoxville, MD., passed away, Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Janet Thompson Deener.Born August 15, 1935, in Brownsville, MD., he was the son of the late Merle Grim and Ottalie V. Kitzmiller Deener.
     Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired, after 26 years, from Eastalco and from Jenkins Tree Service after 15 years. In earlier years he created his own softball league "Deeners Tribe." Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family, the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Orioles, camping, tree work, fishing and the outdoors.
     In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Dianna L. Jenkins, Kenneth M. Deener, and Robert Curtis Deener and wife Cheryl; grandchildren, Danielle Bardell, Daniel Gue, Tristen Deener, Erica K. and Robert P. Deener; great-grandchildren, Blake Bardell and Liberty Wilson; siblings, Juanita Smith, Robert L., Franklin and Merle Deener, and Delores Rickerds. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Deener; and a sister, Geraldine Morris.
     A Memorial service will be held at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, Brownsville, on Tuesday, September 17, at noon. Interment will be in Brownsville Cemetery.The family and friends will gather at the church after the service.Those desiring may make donations to the family. 
Doris Jean Sheckles Class 1951
     Ms. Doris Jean Sheckells, 80, of Brunswick MD died Saturday September 7, 2013 at the Washington Hospital Center.Born January 25, 1933 in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Charlotte Heffner Sheckells and Roy Wilmer Sheckells.
     Doris worked most of her life at the Price Electric Company in Frederick MD as a technician. She was a very kind and loving person who had a multitude of friends who included her very close friend, Doris Wilson.
     She is survived by her sister, Ruth Griffith and her son, Mervin Joseph Griffith, nephews, William "Bill" Munday and wife Debbie and their children, April and husband Richard Remsburg and grand daughters, Jewel and Lola, Billy Munday, Sean McKinney and wife Denise and grandson, Jake. Mike McKinney and wife Angela and Javon.She also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by sisters, Jean, Roberta, Mary and Evelyn. Brothers Roy and David.

William Edward Welch
Mr. William Edward Welch, 58, of Brunswick, MD died on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.Born in Bethesda, MD on September 7, 1954 he was the son of the late William Garland Welch and Elsie Marie Kimberlind.
     William was a graduate of Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick MD and worked for Mid Maryland Excavating of Brunswick MD as a truck driver.He is survived by three sisters: Wilma Remsberg and Augusta of Jefferson, MD; Patricia Hahn of Brunswick, MD; and Karen Dixon and Tim of Falling Waters, WV; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
     A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Potomac Believers Fellowship Church, 1200 North Maple Ave, Brunswick with Pastor Charles E. Pete Reynolds
Mr. Pete C. Reynard, 78, of Knoxville, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     He was the loving husband of Pat L. Reynard. They were married 59 years.
Born October 13, 1934 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Russell and Zoe Reynard.
     Pete was a graduate of the University of Maryland with a double major in mathematics and physics. He and his wife lived in Hyattsville for many years before relocating to Knoxville in 2004.
     A people person, Pete enjoyed a 30-year career as a realtor with ReMax Realty in Prince George's County. Prior to that, he was Director of the Computer Department for International Telecommunications Satellite Corporation.
     He loved cats, riding motorcycles, bicycling, hiking and walking along the train tracks. Pete will be greatly missed by those he loved.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children; son, Russell Reynard and wife, Cathy, of Middletown; daughter, Sandra (Reynard) Ellis and husband, Tim, of Mt. Airy; and son, Wayne Reynard and wife, Melanie, of Knoxville; three grandchildren, Katie Reynard, Ashley Ellis, and Logan Reynard; and his nieces and nephews.
     A celebration of Pete's life will begin at 2 pm. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Faith Baptist Church, 2212 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, MD. Officiating will be Pastor Roger Mace and Pastor Ed Jordan.

June Catherine Zecker (Gilbert)
     Mrs. June Catherine Gilbert, 82, of Jefferson, died Friday, August 30, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Kenneth L. Gilbert, who died August 18, 2002.
     Born in Burkittsville, June 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Floyd M. and Elva Huffer Zecker.
Mrs. Gilbert was the owner of Hillside Liquors in Knoxville and had retired as a branch manager for Fredericktowne Bank. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, and a member of the ladies auxillary and volunteer at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed travelling.
     She is survived by a niece, Robin Neary and husband John, of Middletown; and two great-nieces, Kristen and Lauren Neary.She was predeceased by her faithful companion, Leon, and will be missed by her many friends.
     The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, from the Mount Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will follow the service there. The Rev. Chris Frigm will officiate.

     Mrs. Kathleen Virginia Harrison Bolyard McDonald, 77, of Woodsboro, MD., passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013, at her home. She was the wife of the late Jesse T. McDonald, Jr.
      Born October 30, 1935, in Knoxville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Garland and Ida Virginia Cooper Harrison. Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her family, going out with her friends at Bell Court and playing bingo.The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Zaidi, Hospice of Frederick County and Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     She is survived by her children, Ralph E. Bolyard, wife Nancy, of Frederick, Anthony W. Bolyard, wife Stephanie, of Inwood, WV, James W. Bolyard, Sr., wife Annie, of Frederick, Lois J. Kegley, husband John, of Martinsburg, WV, Sandra L. Harris, husband Homer, of Ladiesburg, and Rita Mae Adkins, husband Michael, of Keymar; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; stepchildren, Robert, Charles, Douglas, Jeffrey and Jimmy McDonald and families; her sisters-in-law, Edna Harrison and Bonnie Harrison; and many nieces and nephews. 
     She was preceded in death by her siblings, John R., Charles C., Eugene E., James E., Paul L., and George T. Harrison and Bertie R. Bolinger.

     Mrs. Mamie V. Weedon, of 222 Fifth Avenue, Brunswick, MD, beloved wife of the late Edgar Horace Weedon, and beloved daughter of the late Edgar and Fannie Scott, born on August 15, 1920, in Brookville, MD, departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at the age of 93 years and 10 days.
     She is survived by: one sister, Mrs. Edna Vaughn; one sister-in-law, Mable Scott; and one brother-in-law, John Butler. She was preceded in death by: four sisters; Rosie Giles, Agnes Miller, Martha Bullett and Mary Butler, and four brothers; Raymond Scott, William F. Scott, Edward Scott and Charles Scott.

     Mrs. Gail Leigh Miller, 60, of Brunswick MD. died Friday August 23, 2013, at her mother's home in Brunswick.Born in Frederick MD. on September 1, 1952 she was the daughter of Virginia Dyer and the late Paul Taylor, Sr.
     She was a member of the Brunswick American Legion, Post 96.Gail is survived by her Mother Virginia, a daughter, Paula Breier and husband Mark of Walkersville MD; a son Michael Miller and wife Kim of Knoxville MD; a sister Patti Zientek and husband Frankie of Brunswick MD; a brother Paul Taylor and wife Patricia of New Market, MD; grandchildren Dylan and Brooke Miller along with baby Breier on the way. She was preceded in death by her father, a step-father, James E. Dyer and her Aunt, Pauline Taylor.

Charles 'Pete' Virts Class 1948
Mr. Charles Richard "Petie" Virts, 88, of  Martinsburg, WV; and formerly of Brunswick, MD; died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Shenandoah Center in Charles Town, WV.
     Born in Lovettsville, VA on August 7, 1925 he was the son of the late Richard Virts and Mary Catherine Wenner.Petie worked for many years for L&S Fuel in Brunswick, MD. He was an avid Washington Redskin and Baltimore Orioles fan, a corporal in the Army-Air Force, a member of the Sharpsburg Bible Church, and a lifetime member of the Brunswick Volunteer Fire Department.
     He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He has left many fond memories his family will carry in their hearts to remember him by.He is survived by two daughters: Rhonda New of Bristol, VA and Shirl Francke and husband Pieter of Martinsburg, WV; a son: A. Greg Breeden and wife Deborah of Brunswick, MD; nine grandchildren: Judy Nuse, Nina New, Allan Breeden, Brian Breeden, Chad Breeden, Leigh Anne Francke, Pieter Francke, Ian Francke, Kayley Francke; and eight great-grandchildren.He was preceded by his parents, his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley Temple Virts and a sister, Gloria Nancy Talton.

Wayne Eugene Huffer 
     Mr. Wayne Eugene Huffer, 78, of Broad Run, Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday August 20, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Jacquelyn P. Huffer for 59 years.
     Born on November 3, 1934 at Ft. Meade he was a son of the late Eugene and Margaret Fulmer Huffer.Wayne served in the US Army 7th Infantry Division 31st Battery C-A Arty. during the Korean conflict and then was stationed in Honolulu HI. He was a member of AMVETS Post #9; past president of the Burkittsville Ruritan Club and in previous years served as sales manager for the Frederick County 4-H beef, sheep and swine sales at the Frederick Fair. He was also a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Burkittsville until his retirement.
     He was a self-employed building contractor in the Columbia and Gaithersburg areas. In his spare time he enjoyed farming and raising Angus cattle and in his later years enjoyed spending time fishing and crabbing at his summer home in Delaware.Surviving, besides his wife, are:2 sons - Michael E. Huffer and wife Melissa and Randy W. Huffer and his companion Andrea Stossle.4 grandchildren - Matthew L. Huffer, Morgan D. Huffer, Megan D. Huffer and Ryan W. Huffer1 great-grandson - Carter Z. Metz2 brothers - Jay Wendell Huffer and wife Anne - Hagerstown; Samm O. Mary Elizabeth Creager (Summers)
     Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Creager Summers, 93, of Jefferson, died on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at her son's home in Knoxville. She was the wife of the late Harry Warren Summers.Born in Frederick on October 1, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Nora Spurrier Creager.
     Mrs. Summers had worked as the office manager for HC Summers in Jefferson and also for John D. Hendrickson and the Automobile Club of Maryland.She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jefferson. She enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques, cooking and her flower gardens. She was devoted to her family and loved sharing her time with them.
     Surviving her is one son, Richard C. Summers, of Knoxville, her grandchildren, Jeremiah W. Summers and Elizabeth L. Willard and husband George, two great grandchildren, Ashton and Tiffany Willard, a sister-in- law, Bernice W. Summers, of Jefferson and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen W. Summers in 1990, two sisters, Catherine M. Creager and Agnes L. Oland, one brother and his wife, Burton M. Creager and Louise.
     The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. June Woods (Harlan) Class 1956
June E. Harlan, age 74 of Carlyle, died on Friday, July 26, 2013, in Kansas City, Kansas.
     Mrs. Harlan was born on October 10, 1938, in Lovettsville, Virginia, a daughter of Jesse and Edna (Baker) Woods. She married Ronald E. Harlan in Frederick, Maryland on November 4, 1960, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2004.
     Mrs. Harlan is survived by her children – Terry Harlan of Kinmundy, Koreen Stein of Centralia, Andrea Harlan of Carlyle, and Nicole Harlan of Kansas City, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and her siblings – James Woods of Maryland, Beatrice Fawley of Rohrersville, Maryland, Dora Hale of Point of Rocks, Maryland and Virginia Lee Santmier of Frederick, Maryland.
     Mrs. Harlan worked as a civil service communications specialist at Scott Air Force Base. She enjoyed camping, bingo, reading, quilting and embroidery, and loved to watch her grandchildren’s ball games.
     Funeral services will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren-Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Monday, July 29, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Helen Heffner (Atkins)
     Helen Heffner Atkins, 90, of Walkersville, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Heartfields of Frederick.She was the wife of the late Searle Thomas Atkins, with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage.She was born July 24,1922, in Jefferson, Maryland, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Bessie Heffner.
     She worked for the Frederick Unemployment Office until she retired after 30 years. She was the oldest living member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica and was a dedicated member of the Utica Lutheran Women's League for over 60 years.Helen is survived by one daughter, Linda A. Free and husband, Parker, of Walkersville; three grandchildren, Christine E. Souders and husband, David, of Leesburg, VA, Diana F. DiRubbo, of Syracuse, N.Y., and Brian P. Free, of Lewistown; and two great-granddaughters, Madison Souders and Ava DiRubbo. She was predeceased in death by her brother, Paul Heffner.

Eugene "Gene" Lakin
     Mr. Eugene Edward "Gene" Lakin, 68, a well-known Jefferson resident, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.
He was the loving husband of 35 years to Catherine (Cathy) Williams Lakin. Born November 5, 1944, in Frederick, he was the son of the late George W. Lakin and Catharine Arnold Lakin Martz.Gene was a life-time dairy farmer in Jefferson, and he worked for Southern States in Brunswick and Frederick. He was a member of the Jefferson United Church of Christ, the Jefferson Ruritan, the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company and the Jefferson Grange.
     In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Amanda C. Lancaster and husband, William, of Jefferson; Mark E. Lakin and wife, Stacy, of Jefferson; Thomas (Tom) E. Lakin and wife, Angela, of Middletown; Robin A. Vance and husband, Jack, of Big Pool; and Eugene W. Lakin of Pennsylvania; and 10 grandchildren, Amber Moberly, Kare Grace Lakin, Kelly Lancaster, Haylee Lancaster, Curtis (CJ) Lakin, Katelyn Lakin, Jenna Lakin, Ryan Lakin, Nicholas Vance and Sam Vance. Betty Bartlett (Murray) 
Mrs. Betty Marie (Bartlett) Murray, 87, of Frederick, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     She was the wife of the late Louis D. Murray, Sr. Born on December 22, 1925, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Ada (Brubaker) Bartlett.Mrs. Murray worked 16 years at Price Electric and 22 years at Fairchild in Germantown, where she retired.
     She was a member of the V.F.W., and American Legion Aux., Brunswick, Samaritan Rebekah Lodge 51, and AMVETS L.A. in Frederick. Betty devoted her time vol- unteering at the VA Hospital in Martinsburg for several years. She enjoyed going out to dinner with her special friend, James Baker and she especially enjoyed loving her great-grandchildren who dearly adored her.
     She is survived by her children, Louis D. Murray, Jr., Donna M. Murray, Cindy K. Fowler and Gary W. Murray, grandchildren, Louis Murray III, Michelle Hampton and husband AJ, Dana Zimmerman, John Fowler Jr., and wife Julie and Noah Fowler and wife Tonia, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 8 siblings.

Betty Lou Arvin (Miller) Class 1942
Betty Lou Miller, 88, of Frederick, MD passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013.
     Born January 11, 1925 in Brunswick, MD. She was the daughter of the late Charles Arvin and Viola (Phillips) Arvin.
She was a 1942 graduate of Brunswick High School. She was employed by Applied Communications Company and Leggett's and was a homemaker. Betty was an avid Orioles fan.
     She is survived by three daughters; Linda Lou Rice of Delmar, MD, Sharon Kay Converse and husband Christian, of Annapolis, MD, and Debora Pearl and husband, Dave, of Davidsonville, MD. Seven Grandchildren; Justin Rice, Kristen Moyer, Jasen Converse, Jaclyn Brooke Fairman, Zachary Converse, Crystal Hupp and DJ Pearl. Eight great-grandchildren; Kayla, Skylar, Dawson, Tyler, Noah, Lily Jane, Olive and Caitlyn. Betty is survived by many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her 3 sisters; Marguerite Painter, Fran Hamilton and Truda Webber.
     She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Charles (Bud) Arvin and Warren (Pete) Arvin and 2 sisters; Helen Dailey and Gloria Hinckle.
Per Betty's wishes, there will be no viewing. There will be a private gravesite service in Charles Town, West Virginia.
George Lee "Sam" Frye
Born in Lovettsville, VA on December 31, 1944 he was the son of the late George Emanuel Frye and Geneyive Dellow.
     Known as Sam to most everyone in the local area was self employed. He operated T.J. Body Shop repairing and painting cars and trucks for many years. His hobbies and interests were cars, traveling, cooking, his family and one very dear pet, his dog, "Maggie-Sue".
     Sam is survived by his loving wife Joyce. They had been married for 48 years and have known each other for 51 years. He is also survived by two sons, Tony Lee Frye and Rachel of Waynesboro, PA, Jeffry Frye and Denise of Braddock Heights, MD, 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister Geraldine Knisley of VA, two brothers, Ricky Frye of Lovettsville, VA. and Billy Frye and Charlene of Brunswick, MD.
     The family will receive friends at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick MD on Saturday July 6, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon where a memorial service will be held at 12 noon. Officiating will be pastor Lana Roberts.

Sherman Junior Wigfield
Sherman Junior Wigfield, 84, of Brunswick, Maryland died June 20, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital from complications of lung cancer.
     Born March 29, 1929 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Shay and Elsie Wigfield. Sherman leaves behind his wife of nearly 63 years, Norma June Bucy Wigfield.
     Sherman spent his childhood years in Cumberland. In January 1951, he moved to Brunswick to begin his career as a steam engine fireman for the B&O Railroad. After a successful career, Sherman retired August 3, 1988 as an experienced train engineer for CSX. Sherman also enjoyed working part-time as a carpenter and was responsible for many remodeling improvements in the Brunswick area. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren.
     In addition to his wife, Sherman is survived by his brother Bill Wigfield of Fort Ashby, WV; four children, Gary (Sylvia) Wigfield and grandchildren Darren, Danny, twins Diane and Jason; Janet (Alan) Robertson and grandson Mark; James (Karen) Wigfield and grand- son twins Tyler and Willie, triplets Grant, Shay, and Trent, and Reed; David (Cherie) Wigfield and grandchildren Ethan and Mandy, and step-grandchildren Heather and Alexis.
     The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N Maple Ave, Brunswick. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 23 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Phil Graves and Mr. Bill Turney.

Virginia Dagenhart (Bruchie) Class 1947
      Virginia "Jenny" Mae Dagenhart Bruchie, age 82, of Mt. Airy, passed into the arms of her Savior on June 15, 2013 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Born September 28, 1930 in Weverton, she was the daughter of the late Grant Edward and Mildred Virginia Edwards Dagenhart. She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Frances Dagenhart.
     She was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Lucy Webb Hayes School of Nursing and Sibley Memorial Hospital, Mount Saint Mary's and Hood Colleges. She worked many years for Dr. James P. Kerr of Damascus. She also worked for Springfield State Hospital, Frederick Memorial, Montgomery General, and Taylor Manor Hospitals. She loved antiques and for several years ran The Cracked Crock Antique Shop.
     She was a member and devoted disciple of Mountain View United Methodist Church and a volunteer with Hospice Of Frederick County and the Damascus Senior Center.
     She is survived by children: Robin and Allen Haines of Thurmont, and Chris Eric Bruchie of Mt. Airy; and grandchildren: James Robert (J.R.) Bruchie of Mt. Airy, Bryan Allen and Lili Haines of San Bruno, CA, and Scott Andrew Haines of Thurmont. She also leaves behind her faithful companion, Ruger.
     A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 22 11:00 at Mountain View United Methodist Church with Reverends' Robert Braden and Eliezer Valentin- Castanon.

Anna Longbrake (Mock) Class 1944
     With the very dignity and grace she displayed through- out her life, Anna L. Mock age 85 peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013, in South Bend, Indiana. Born in Brunswick, Maryland, Anna was a longtime resident of Leesburg, Virginia, until mov- ing to South Bend, Indiana in 2010, where she quickly and comfortably made Indiana her second home. Her final journey will see her return back home to Leesburg, where she will be reunited with her beloved husband of 59 years, Richard, who pre- deceased her in 2006.
     Anna, born the fourth and youngest daughter of Thomas and Anna Longbrake, was predeceased by her three elder sisters Frances, Gertrude, and Grace. A wonderful and loving wife, Anna was a mother of two, son Richard (Peggy) Mock of South Bend, Indiana, and daughter Anne (Daniel) Fox of Leesburg, a grandmother of six, Stephanie (Mike) Jackson, Benjamin (Lauren) Fox, Emily Mock, Sarah Fox, and Marshall and Spencer Mock, and a great grandmother of three, Ambrielle, Timothy, and Leah Jackson, all of whom survive her.
     Anna graduated from Brunswick High School and secretarial school. Her first full time job was as an administrative assistant at the United States Commerce Department in Washington, D.C., where she became an expert in the now lost art of shorthand.
     On July 12, 1947 Anna married her high school sweetheart, Richard, starting their lives together at age nineteen, marrying just one day before his twentieth birthday. Their love for each other stood the test of time. She later became a full-time mother and always made a beautiful home for her family.
     Anna had an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor. She was a great audience, when anyone would tell a joke, good or bad; they could always count on at least one laugh in the room with Anna. She was a warm and caring person who had many friends.
     Anna had a variety of interests over her lifetime: singing in the church choir, playing piano and organ, and she enjoyed listening to many types of music. Anna loved to watch sports. She and Richard were longtime Washington Redskin season ticket holders. Anna loved to travel, with Bermuda and Hawaii being two of her favorite destinations. Anna loved fashion, clothes, shoes, and jewelry were her favorites, and she wore them well. Anna was always "dressed to the nines".
     A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday July 13, 2013 at 1 PM at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg. Anna's family would be honored if you can attend.
Anna was loved by all who knew her, and she will be sorely missed. Anna's last request for family, friends, or anyone reading about her life for the first time was that you offer some act of kindness to
Charles Lemuel Jackson Class 1964
     Charles Lemuel Jackson, 67, passed away on June 9, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital with his wife and family by his side. Charles was born to the late Maxine Giles Jackson and James Jackson, Sr. in Brunswick.
     Charles had many good qualities, he loved meeting and talking to people and helping those in need and was very generous with an open hand and helped those in need during his travel. Charles also loved to travel. During his life he had seen action in Vietnam as a Merchant Marine before filling his military obligation to Uncle Sam before entering into the Army. He had been around the world three times. He was a cook for the Black Panthers in Baltimore and fed many children. He was an Engineer for the B&O Railroad. He really enjoyed making you laugh, if you were in his company, there was never a dull moment. He lived a good life.
     He is survived by his loving wife Wanda Perry Jackson, three sisters, Savannah Boyce (Melvin) both of Frederick, MD. Ernestine Hite and Betty Campbell ( John) of Brunswick, MD. One brother James Jackson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and one pre-deceased sister Margaret Jackson. Many nieces and nephews.
Stanley Leroy White
     Stanley Leroy White, age 77, of Brunswick, MD, was called home to be with his wonderful loving Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Maryland.
     Born January 5, 1936 in Frederick, Maryland he was the son of the late John Cleagon and Ardelia (nee Wheedon) White.
He was the husband of Lynette Ann (nee Laughline) White of Brunswick and the late Anna K. (nee Daywalt) White who died June 9, 2008.
     He worked for many years as a Security Guard for TMA Security until his retirement. Prior to that he had worked as a janitor for 14 years for the city of Rockville, Maryland. In his retirement he worked as a Junk Man and was known to be like Sanford and Son White Hauling. In addition to his junk business he also worked as a janitor at the Second Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Hagerstown.
     He was a member and a Deacon at the Second Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) He was also very active with the church fish fries where he was well known and missed at the one held last Saturday at the church.
     He loved watching baseball and football and was a true fan of the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. He loved being a Trustee, Deacon and usher at the church and was known for selling lots of dinners for the church suppers.
In addition to his wife Lynette Ann, he is also survived by five children, Terri Barnes of Canton, Ohio; Michael Dykes and Diane Dykes both of Frederick; Michelle Dykes of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; and Leanne Disney of Hagerstown, Maryland; 21 grandchildren, a sister Betty Monroe of Silver Springs, Maryland, two brothers William White of Frederick, Maryland and John White of Missouri.
     In addition to his wife Anna, he is preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Stanley's life will be Celberated on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 1 PM in the Second Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 65 W. North Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740. Brittany “Pippy” Kay Reiter
     Ms. Brittany "Pippy" Kay Reiter, 25, of Brunswick, Maryland, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at George Washington University Hospital.
     Born December 9, 1987 in Heidelberg, Germany, she is the daughter of Melissa Lukes and husband Patrick of Brunswick, MD and David Reiter and wife Diane of Manassas, VA.
     Pippy was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Gregory Harr in Manassas. She was a member of Mountain View Community Church in Urbana.
The greatest joy in her life was her children. She also enjoyed her work, going to the Gym and running.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her two sons Taylor and Tristan, her brother Benjamin Reiter and sister Clare Lukes.
     She will also be remembered by her family and friends.

Dorothy Taulton (Merchant) Class 1943
     Dorothy N. Merchant (nee Taulton), 86, of York, PA, beloved wife of Paul O. Merchant, passed to eternal life on June 3, 2013, at Country Meadows Retirement Community, W. York, PA. Born on February 17, 1927, in Knoxville, MD, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Harold and Catherine (Beachley) Taulton.
     Dorothy, a 1943 graduate of Brunswick High School, lived most of her life in Baltimore where she worked and raised her family. Dorothy and her husband enjoyed many of their retirement years in Hagerstown, MD where they volunteered at the local col- lege. She enjoyed dancing with her husband and attended many local dances in the Baltimore and Hagerstown areas. Dorothy and Paul also spent much their retire- ment years traveling the country and site-seeing.
     Dorothy is survived by her husband, Paul O. Merchant; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Roger Karsk, Dawn and Thomas Capino, and Lisa and George Cada; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul T. and Sandra Merchant and Mark O. Merchant, five grandchildren and a great grandson: Crystal Rawlings, Amanda and Paul A. Merchant, Alexandra and Melanie Bindon and Dalton Stewart; one sister, Delores Taulton and two brothers, Robert and Gerald Taulton.
     In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Koontz, Alma Miller, and Thelma Gousha-Pettis and five brothers, Frank, Merle, Leon, Floyd and L. Wayne Taulton.
     The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 6- 9 p.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, MD.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 13266 Taylorstown Rd., Leesburg, VA 20176.

Thelma Frye (Cecil)
     Mrs. Thelma Pauline Cecil, 91, of Brunswick, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Northampton Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of William D. Cecil who predeceased her in February 1973.
     She was born on July 31, 1921 in Lovettsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Myrland and Dorothea Frye.
Thelma became a member of the New York Hill Methodist Church in 1953 which is now the New Hope United Methodist church in Brunswick.
     She graduated from Lovettsville High School in 1939. She was a homemaker part of her life and then worked at Brunswick High School cafeteria a short time and then many years at the Dan Dee Restaurant. Thelma loved spending time with family and friends and cooking.
     Surviving are a son William L. Cecil and wife Brenda of Jefferson; sisters Georgia Ridgeway and husband Gene of Lovettsville,VA, and Barbara Gletner of Lovettsville, VA a brother Leonard Frye of Stevensillve, MD, sister-in-law Barbara Frye of Lovettsville, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by many longtime friends and care givers at Northampton Manor.
     In addition to her parents she is predeceased by sisters Elizabeth Frye, Margaret Jacobson, Esther Shafer and brothers Howard Frye and Stanley Frye.
     The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 5 at 11 AM. Rev. Katie Bishop and Pastor Noni Sigler will officiate.

Alice Drew (Summers)
     Alice K. Summers of Walkersville passed away May 26, 2013 at the Glade Valley Nursing Home.
She was the wife of Mark Lee Summers and they celebrated 69 years of marriage on May 24th.
     She was born September 4, 1924 in Belfast Ireland. Her parents were Gordon and Alice Drew of Belfast Ireland. She married an American Soldier and became a US Citizen.
     She worked in the Brunswick and Burkittsville cafeteria and then worked till retirement at Richard F. Kline as a bookkeeper.
Surviving are one brother, Sidney Drew and wife Toni of Tasmania; two sisters Selina and Ann; sister-in-law Hazel, and numerous relatives in Australia. In addition, she is survived by her three children Mark Drew & Judy Summers, Jennifer & Tony Kinna, Gail and Merhl Wiles; grandchildren Merhl Wiles & wife Lori and Heather Wiles; Terri Green and Husband Kirk; Kevin Kinna, Eric Kinna and wife Traci; she leaves nine great-grandchildren, Courtney, Taylor, Brendan, Melissa, Trever, Tyler, Desiree, Derrell and Amanda; also her favorite niece Janice and her family. She is also remembered by her best friend in life Betty Mawhinney of Ireland, they have talked at least once a week by phone for many years.
     Mrs. Summers was preceded in death by her Grandson Alan K. Wiles, her brothers Ross Drew and Gordon Drew of Australia.

Phyllis Roby (Morsberger) Class 1951
     Phyllis Barbara Roby Morsberger, 81, died May 25, 2013 at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia. She was the widow of John Henry Morsberger III, who died in 1971.
     Born April 7, 1932 in Brunswick, Maryland, she was the daughter of A.F. "Tete" and Nellie V. (Green) Roby. She was a graduate of Brunswick High School where she participated in school productions and sports. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick, where she sang in the choir, and the Women of the Moose Chap. 660, where she held many chairs. Phyllis was retired from the National Geographic Society.
     She is survived by children, John Roby Morsberger and wife Michelle of Norfolk; James M. Morsberger and wife Laura of Ottumwa, Iowa; JoEllen Fisher and husband "Tee" of Brunswick; and Jeanell Willis and husband George of Norfolk.
     She is also survived by grandchildren, Welthey Morsberger, John Fisher, Janice Swegan, Jaclyn Smith, Jennifer O'Neill, James Morsberger, James Fisher, Jenna Morsberger, Joseph Fisher, Janna Willis, Joy MacVittie, Jessica Willis, Jeanette Morsberger; and great-grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Jason, Suz, Ali, Braylen, Kyleigh, Jaclyn, and Brennan. She will be greatly missed by cousin, Barbara Ruth Desiderio and husband George.
     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Lake Taylor Hospital, Norfolk, with Chaplain Victor Philip officiating.  Edward Sanger Class 1939
Edward West Sanger, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, died Friday, May 24 at the age of 92.
     He was born December 3, 1920 in Brunswick, MD. into a loving family of one brother, George Sanger, and two sisters, Frances Pettingall and Mary Fisher, all who have predeceased him in death. His parents were Bessie Jane Merriman Sanger and Franklin Elexander Sanger.
     After graduating from Brunswick High School, Edward enlisted in the army where he served from January 1943 to November 1945 in the US Army Ordinance Anti-aircraft Battalion, European Theater. After the war, he worked as Administrative Supply Officer at Fort Detrick, retiring in 1974. His interests were many and varied.
     For many years he owned and operated Grandpa's Treasures, an antique store in New Market, which specialized in refinished furniture, clocks and lamps. Much of the furniture and many of the clocks were refurbished by him.
Edward enjoyed inventing and has a patent for a hammer and one for a garden waterfall. At a point in his life, Ed owned several horses, which he raced at the Charles Town racetrack. Until his arthritis ended his playing, he was an avid golfer and loved to tell about his 2 holes in one. He was a life long member of the VFW and the American Legion and was a member of the B.P.O.E. Calvary United Methodist Church was Ed's church for 65 years, serving on the administrative board and serving as usher for many years with his 3 brothers-in-law.
Memories of Ed will be cherished by those who knew him. He will be remembered for his tremendous energy and "get er done" philosophy, for his inquisitiveness and interest in many subjects, for his love of the outdoors and gardening, for his patience and kindness, and most of all, for his sense of humor, which defined his personality. He was a Redskins fan, an independent thinker, and one who loved to debate.
     Edward was married to Mignon Miller of Frederick for 42 years until her untimely death in 1984. Family members who are mourning his death are his only child, Constance Mignon Mason, and her husband, Robert L. Mason, Jr., their 3 children and spouses, Natalie and Timothy Gipson, Renee and Javier Vega, and Gregory and Amanda Mason, and his twelve great-grandchildren - Ellory, Carter and Camille Gipson; Mikaela, Ian, Luke and Carmen Vega; and Cassie, Ginny, Jonathan, Tess and Eva Mason. He was also loved by numerous nieces and nephews. Family was his most cherished possession. As the patriarch of the family, he was an inspiration to them as an example of one who faced challenges with steadfastness and a positive attitude. He faced growing old armed with dignity and his faith in God.
Also mourning his passing is Mrs. Betty Anderson, who has shared the last 8 years as a very special friend to Edward. Her care resulted in filling his final years with companionship and love.
     Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 131 W. Second St., Frederick. Officiating will be the Rev. Harry C. Cole.
Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery immediately following services.

Dixie Walter (Saunders)
 Ms. Dixie M. (Saunders) Walter, 60, of Brunswick, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at her residence.
     Born on January 16, 1953, in Olney, she was the daughter of the late Ivey and Betty (Saunders) Rhodes.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Walter, brother, Howard Saunders, sisters, Thelma Norris, Frances Burdette and husband Arnold and Hannah Murphy and husband Chris, grand-hildren, Michael Walter, Jacob Walter, Sandy Walter and Emily Walter, numerous nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Golliday.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM, on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Brunswick Vol. Amb. & Rescue, 200 W. Potomac St., Brunswick, MD 21716. Pastor Amy Clark will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

James Tritapoe Class 1947
James L. Tritapoe, 83, of Rohrersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, May 20, 2013 while surround by his family at his home.
     Born on August 6, 1929, in Brownsville, Maryland he was the son of the late Calvin Thomas and Rhoda Eugenia (Younkins) Tritapoe.
Mr. Tritapoe was a 1947 graduate from Brunswick High School.
     He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served from 1952- 1954 as a Sergeant. He was the Battalion Armourer and received two meritorious promotions.
     After his service in the Military, he returned to serve his machinist's apprenticeship with the B&O Railroad in Brunswick, Maryland.
Jim owned his own business, Valley Upholstery, from 1962 until his retirement. He was well-known throughout Frederick and Washington Counties for his fine workmanship. Jim also worked as a car salesman with Middletown Ford, Jenkin's Motor's and FSK Lincoln Mercury in Frederick.
     He was a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren in Burkittsville, Maryland for 50 years; the Morris-Frock American Legion Post 42 in Hagerstown; the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown; the Eagle's Travel Club in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; AARP; and the Golden Ballroom Dancers in Hagerstown. Jim was a Past Master of the Columbia (Lynch) Lodge 58, A.F. & A.M. in Frederick, and also was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite of Frederick and Baltimore, Maryland.
     Jim also like to travel with his wife before his illness. He loved to make pretty things, including bird houses and foot stools, and also loved to do work for his children.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey D. (Stream) Tritapoe; two daughters, Teresa D. Biser of Middletown and Tammy D. Tritapoe of Martinsburg, West Virginia; two sisters, Eileen R. Bayles of Frederick, Maryland and Patricia D. Mohler of Brunswick, Maryland; two granddaughters, Megan Biser and Sabrina Pierson; and three great-grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Crutchfield and DJ Pierson.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, Edward M., Calvin E., Richard W., and William L. Tritapoe.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road in Brownsville, Maryland. Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Brownsville Heights Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 from Boonsboro.

Robert Nelson Covell
Robert Nelson Covell, 63, of Knoxville, MD went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 18, 2013.
     Born September 1, 1949 to the late William and Evelyn Savage Covell. He was the beloved and dedicated husband of Emmy Covell.
Bob was known for his honesty, loyalty and care for anyone who came into his life. He was dedicated to his family, friends and his animals.
     In addition to his loving wife, Bob is survived by his daughters, Terri Lewis (John) and Robin McCully (Brian) both of Knoxville, MD. Pap Pap to his four grandchildren, Cory Lewis, Kristy Lewis, Maddie McCully and Katie McCully. Bob is survived by 10 siblings, William Covell (Barbara), Sandra Buffington, Gail Brashear, Harry Covell, Scott Covell of Frederick, MD, Linda Beavers (Tom) of New Market, MD, Sharon Dickenson (Bob) of Cascade, MD, Donald Covell of Ijamsville, MD, Bertha Musser (Charles) of Pennsylvania and Osie Lebowitz (Dave) of Texas as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He will also be missed by his special friend, Ronnie Heffner. Bob also leaves behind his beloved pet and little buddy "Dutch."
     Bob grew up in Germantown, MD on Savage Leigh/Schaeffer Farm. His strong work ethic began at an early age working on the farm.
Bob was a loyal employee of Montgomery College for over 31 years. He was a member of the MD Brown Swiss Association achieving ten All American nominations in 11 years.
     He was a member of Peoples Baptist Church in Frederick, MD.
Bob touched so many lives with his valuable life lessons and his willingness to help. Bob was always there for everyone.

Timothy Joseph McLane Class 1972
Mr. Timothy Joseph McLane, 58, of Brunswick, MD passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his home.
     Born on December 22, 1954 he was the son of Evelyn (Wenner) McLane of Brunswick and the late Charles D. McLane, Sr.
Tim was a lifelong resident of Brunswick, Maryland. A 1972 graduate of Brunswick High, where he played football, basketball, and tennis. He is most known for his humor. People would flock to him and leave refreshed. He always choose in his humor to make light of himself and never at the expense of dishonoring someone else. He had a special ability to connect with most anyone. He himself had musical talent and enjoyed and appreciated many genres of music. His most favorite place was the Potomac River. He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. All who knew him knew he was an amazing cook. He used this talent to bless those around him. He would make treats for the children his daughter taught and he personally catered her most meaningful live events like prom, graduation and her wedding.
     Tim was known to be a hard worker, a servant and never wanting praise for himself. Even during his recent illness, those closest to him describe him as never complaining. He loved life. His motto was "never take yourself too seriously." He was a generous and sincere man. He gave entirely of himself and what he had to whoever needed it. He was a man of deep affection for knowing God and walking with Him and living out his faith in the most practical ways of daily life. He left this world a thankful man for the full life he lived.
     His greatest treasures were his 2 grandchildren who call him Big Daddy. His legacy is left through them. The same joy, humor and love Tim was known for is abundant in these 2 tiny personalities.
     In addition to his mother he is survived by his daughter Katie (McLane) Rymer, her husband Eric and his 2 grandchildren Timothy Josiah and Evie Joy, his sisters Monica Cady (Craig) and Peg Griffiths. Brothers Dave McLane (Diane) and Dan McLane (Lynn). Nieces Amy Griffiths, Colleen Torres, Shawn McLane & Kelley Bender. Nephews Andrew Griffiths & Will McLane.
     In addition, "Uncle Timmy" will be missed by numerous great nephews & nieces.
Preceded by nephew Charlie McLane, niece Shelley McLane, brother-in- law Leonard Cady.
     The McLane family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Caroline Gessert, who sacrificially treated Tim this last year of his life. She gave him quality care, wisdom, love, the opportunity for hope, and the ability to leave with dignity and peace. We are beyond grateful.
     Also, a special Thank You to his sister, Peg, who faithfully and sacrificially cared for him during his terminal illness this past year.

Melvin Clarence Miller
Mr. Melvin Clarence Miller, 77 of Brunswick, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Josephine "Josey" Miller.
     Born October 5, 1935 in Chesterfield, MD he was the son of the late Mahlon R. Miller and Mary L. Smith.
Melvin worked in is earlier years on a farm in Baltimore where loved tending to and caring for race horses. He later worked for and retired from the Frederick Housing Authority after 14 years as a Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed working and using his many mechanical, carpentry and various other skills.
     He was an avid reader and loved to travel especially his trips to the mountains.
Melvin was a devoted family man and loved his family more than anything.
     In addition to his loving wife Josephine he is survived by his five sons, Michael Myers and wife Martha, Mathew Myers and wife Stacy, Charles Sarver and wife Carol, Barry Sarver and wife Nancy and Marty Sarver and companion Sandy, his four sisters, Fairy Price and husband Ellis, Gloria Burkett, Carol Sarver and husband Charles and Rosalie Kamauf.
     He will also be remembered by his numerous adored grandchildren, great- grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Roma Cummings “Hebb” Class 1948

     Mrs. Roma Ashton Cummings Hebb, 81 of Brunswick, MD died at home on Sunday, March 24, 2013 surrounded by her loving family and friends.
     Born January 12, 1932 in Brunswick MD she was the daughter of the late James Edward Cummings and Bessye Lee Long. Roma's father served as mayor of our town from 1954-1966. During that time, his tenure was marked for having brought Brunswick "out of the mud" according to the book Brunswick, 100 Years of Memories. Mayor Cummings used his technical know-how to complete a massive paving project to improve city streets. He brought a level of professionalism to the proc- ess of hiring and managing town employees.
     Roma will be fondly remembered by friends and family for being active in her church and community and being responsible for starting "The Fabulous Forty's" an annual event for Alumni of Brunswick High School. It was said that she was responsible for bringing Brunswick back together. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Christian clowning group from the Grace Episcopal Church. Their group was invited in 1990 to visit Grace's sister church in Narita, Japan which Roma spoke of as a trip of a lifetime. She and friends also formed a committee called, "America's Bravest". They were responsible for sending hundreds of care packages to our wonderful men and women serving in Iraq. Packages were also sent with toys and clothing for the children of Iraq. She will be remembered and missed mostly for her good wit, laughter and kindness to others. But most of all for her ability to make people smile.
     Roma is survived by four children: James Irvin Hebb of Wheatridge, CO; Jill Ashton Hebb of Brunswick, MD; Mary Michelle "Shelley" Hebb of Brunswick, MD; Michael Benner Hebb of Brunswick, MD; Sheree Childers Stevens of Frederick, MD who Roma looked at as a third daughter; a sister Kay Cummings Sienkilewski and husband Edward of Joppatown, MD. Five grandchildren: Chad, Jessica, Michael, Andrea and SSGT Adam T. Wagner of Austin, TX; nine great-grand- children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, Irvin Franklin Hebb who died May 16, 2008, they were married for 60 years, a sister, Kathleen Crawford.
     A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday April 4, 2013 at the Grace Episcopal Church, 114 East "A" Street, Brunswick, with Rev. Anjel Scarborough officiating.

Tracy Weeden "King"
     Mrs. Tracy Lynn Weedon King, 40, passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at her home in Brunswick, Maryland.
Born May 24, 1972, she was the daughter of David Henderson, Sr., and the late Pauline Weedon Henderson.
     Tracy grew up in Burkittsville, attended Valley Elementary and Brunswick High Schools. She married Brian L. King on May 26, 2008. Tracy was a homemaker and a loving and devoted mom to Eric, Shantae, Aliyah and Deaundre.
     In addition to her father, husband and children, she leaves to cherish her memory her brother, David Henderson, Jr.; Sharon Smothers and Dolores King, who were like a mother to her; Laquan Walton, a good friend and companion; loving aunts and uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends. Tracy will be greatly missed.

Rodney "Bruce" Huffer
Mr. Rodney "Bruce" Huffer, 74, of Jefferson, died Saturday, May 11, at his home after courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Carol Barnes Huffer.
 Born in Broad Run, July 1, 1938, he was a son of the late Rodney Jones and Alma Alice Poffinberger Huffer. 
      He was employed for 37 years by Safeway Inc. and most of those years he was a store manager and never had a day he didn't want to go to work. He always said he was put on this earth to help other people and was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jefferson.
      Surviving besides his wife, are:One daughter - Teresa Huffer Kendrick, of Silver Spring;One son - Brian Huffer, of Pennsylvania; One stepson - Wes Shewbridge and wife Doris, of Frederick One stepdaughter - Angela Mavis and husband David, of Frederick; Two granddaughters - Amanda Kendrick and Allison Kendrick;  Five step-grandchildren Christopher Shewbridge and wife Kim, Naomi Shewbridge, Jada Shewbridge, Camron Shewbridge and Carly Mavis; Three brothers - Merle Huffer and wife Betty, Carroll Huffer and wife Mary Ann, and Richard Huffer and wife Sandra, all of Jefferson
      He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
 He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Art Huffer; and a step-great-granddaughter, Kacey Shewbridge.
      The family will receive friends on Monday, May 13, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, from St. Paul Lutheran Church , 3864 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson. The Rev. Katrina Holland will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.

Joyce Kruebbe (Levy)
Mrs. Joyce K. Levy, 86, of Knoxville, MD, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Sydney D. Levy, Jr.
     Born April 19, 1927 in New Orleans, LA, she was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Ruth Kruebbe.
Mrs. Levy was an active member of St. Mary's and St. Francis Catholic Church and also very active in the Jefferson Homemakers.
     She is survived by her daughter Cynthia McDonald and husband Peter of Knoxville and her grandsons Jamie McDonald and wife Julie of Eldersburg and Jason McDonald of Knoxville.
     The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Avenue, Brunswick on Saturday, May 11, from 2-4 p.m.

James "Gene" Morrison Class 1974
     Mr. James Eugene "Gene" Morrison, 57, of Frederick, MD, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2013. Born March 24, 1956, he was the son of the late James P. Morrison and Mary Ethel Scott.
     Gene is survived by: his son, JJ; daughters, Teia, Valerie and Stefanie; brother, Michael Morrison; sisters, Lisa McCloud, Melinda Bright and Tina Ambush; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by his long-time companion of 37 years, Kimberly Foreman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Angie Morrison.

Emory Albert Hargett
Mr. Emory Albert Hargett, 87, of Knoxville, passed away on May 6, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty Hargett, who died in 1997.
     Born January 10, 1926 in Jefferson, MD, he was the son of the late Albert S. and Goldie R. Hargett. 
Emory was a member of the Maryland & Virginia Milking Association and also served on the Board of Directors at Southern States. In his early years he tried many trades, but his love for farming was his life. He farmed on many farms in the Jefferson and Burkittsville area before he & Betty bought their own farm in Knoxville. Emory and Betty and their son Gary worked very hard on the farm until he retired in 1998, but he still stayed on the farm showing off his John Deere tractors to anyone who came to visit.
       Emory is survived by a son, Gary Hargett & wife Alice of Frederick; a sister, Margaret Toms & husband Harvey of Frederick; and a brother, Guy D. Hargett of Columbia, MD. He also leaves behind a loving and devoted caregiver, Tina Conner, and close friends Dwight Crone and Ronald Cooper. He was preceded in death by sisters Mary Wise and Ruth Edwards, and by a brother, George Hargett.
       Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 7-9 PM in the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013.

Mrs. Helena Nancy Brady, 73 of Brunswick MD. died on Saturday May 4, 2013 at home.
     Born on January 19, 1940 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Helen Bickenton.
Nancy was an accountant working for the Government. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Brunswick.
     She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence A. "Larry" Brady, daughters Teresa and husband Henry Sandy of Waldorf MD, Barbara and husband Mark Briscoe of Brunswick MD, sons Mark Brady of Brunswick MD, James Brady of Oxon Hill, MD, William and wife Sheri Brady of Gambrills, MD and 6 grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Mother's Day, Sunday May 12, 2013 at noon in Brunswick at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 115 First Avenue. Deacon L.P. Teixeira will be officiating.

Bonnie Mae Spring (Hildebrand) Class 1979
Bonnie Mae Hildebrand, 50, of Brunswick, MD passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at her home.
     Born on August 16, 1962 in Olney, Maryland, she was the daughter of Hazel Grant Spring of Brunswick and the late William E. Spring.
Bonnie's career was in the food service industry. She enjoyed spending her free time with her family and friends but mostly enjoyed loving and spoiling her two grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
     In addition to her mother, she is survived by four sons: Donnie and Billy Hildebrand and Brian and Michael Orye, all of Brunswick; grandchildren: Brooklynn Hildebrand and Damien Orye of Brunswick; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Ruth Spring of Brunswick; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by her significant other Brian Bentz of Brunswick and a very special uncle, Jimmy Spring.
     In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Bessie and William Grant, and paternal grandparents Nellie Mae and William Spring.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 12 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church located at 2212 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, MD 21758.

Shelley McLane Class 1992
Ms. Shelley J. McLane, 38 of Brunswick, Maryland joined her brother Charlie in heaven on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
     Born August 10, 1974 in Frederick, Maryland she was the daughter of Dave McLane and wife Diane of Brunswick and Pamela Keeling and husband Pat of Knoxville.
     She was full of life and loved by many. She loved her family, frolicking with her friends, all holidays, especially St Patrick's Day and all things Irish. She was an avid Ravens fan and loved following the NBA especially the Chicago Bulls. Shelley was a 1992 graduate of Brunswick High School where she set numerous records in basketball and received a scholarship to Shippensburg University and later played for FCC.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
     In addition to her parents she is survived by her sister, Shawn McLane, her brother, Will McLane and fiancé Jackie, paternal grandmother, Evelyn Marie McLane, step brothers, Michael Webber and wife Heather and Alex Keeling and wife Jennifer, stepsister, Chiara Keeling, her nephews, Paddy, Graysen, Brody, Gabe and Roman, her nieces, Mikayla, Makynna and Isabelle.
She will also be remem- bered by her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and her special friends, Kristen Haga, Crystal Ferrell and Julie Crowl, and her special family Alli and Taylor Payne.
     She is preceded in death by her brother Charlie McLane, paternal grand- father, Charles D. McLane, Sr. and maternal grandpar- ents, Shelly and Mildred Dawson.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple, Ave. Brunswick on Friday, March 22nd from 2-4 and 7- 9 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 2:00 pm at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Petersville, MD with Father George Limmer officiating.
     Interment will follow in the church cemetery beside her brother Charlie whom she had missed dearly since he was called home.

Gloria J King (Hollar) Class 1959
Mrs. Gloria J. Hollar, 71 of Jefferson, Maryland passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Donald Hollar.
     Born May 23, 1941 in Brunswick, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Pauline King.
Gloria was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Brunswick. She was a Sunday School teacher throughout her life. She was also previously employed with State Farm.
     Gloria enjoyed quilting and she was a member of the Merry Peep O'Da Quilt Club. She also worked as a volunteer by knitting baby caps for FMH.
She is survived by her three children, Donald "Gene" Hollar and wife Lisa of Brunswick, Kelli Fisher and husband Frank of Brunswick and Marci Hollar of Brunswick, three grandchildren, Jessica Anderson, Jacob Fisher and Joshua Fisher and a brother, Ernest King and wife Dorthea of Georgia.

Raymond Lee Cooper
     Mr. Raymond Lee Cooper 80, of Brunswick MD. Passed away Wednesday April 17, 2013 at home.
         Born December 25, 1932 in Brunswick he was the son of the late George John Cooper and Louise Mary Gertrude Wright.
     Raymond worked many years for Sears & Roebuck as a service manager. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Brunswick, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #948 of Charlestown WV. And a life time member of the Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company.
     Remaining to cherish his memory is his loving companion of 22 years, Kay Moore; a first cousin, William George of Alexandria VA; his dearly loved Cat, "Miss Kitty" and a multitude of wonderful friends.
     He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Betty Jane who died in 1988.
Friends will be received on Monday April 22, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Nancy Smith, 72, of Inwood, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at her residence.
     Born June 28, 1940 in Burnswick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Rubin Walter Harrison and Margaret Jane (Noll) Harrison.
She is survived by her husband, William Smith, one daughter, Rebecca Arnohalt and husband, Shawn; two grandchildren, Brian Keith Smith, Sr., and Amber Nicole Lerch; one great-grandson, Brian Keith Smith, Jr.; two brothers, Jim Harrison and wife, Sue, and Butch Harrison; brother-in- law, Charles Smith and wife, Gladys, sister in law Margaret Roderick; and sev- eral nieces and nephews.

     William F. Martin, Sr., 89, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at his residence.
Surviving are his son, William F. Hilda Lee ‘Summers’
     Mrs. Hilda Mae Summers, 79, of Knoxville, passed away on April 9, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Allen R. Summers, her husband of 41 years.
     Born Oct. 24, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Osvan Lee and Mary Camilla Cooper. Mrs. Summers worked for many years in the electronics industry as an assembler and as a quality control inspector. She loved camping and the outdoors, painting miniature figurines, playing cards and bingo, and spending time with her family.
     In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by seven children, James W. Hinerman & wife Ann, Charles E. Hinerman & wife Wanda, Richard D. Hinerman, Bonnie L. Long & husband Dean, Linda M. Poole & husband Michael, Sheila D. Oldach & husband James, and Christina L. Russell & husband Tom; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gertrude McFarland, and by a grandson, John W. Guassardo.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Taulton (Summers) Class 1954
     Mrs. Patricia Ann Taulton Summers, 76, of Smithsburg, died Saturday April 6 at Golden Living Center in Hagerstown. She was the wife of George Wesley Summers who died in 1982.
     Born in Brunswick, July 23, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Harry Mahlon and Elizabeth Catherine Spaid Taulton. She was a member of the Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville.
     She is survived by: 4 children - Martin Elwood Miller and Clark Mahlon Miller - both of Hagerstown ; Debbie Selby - Frederick; and Charles Summers - Springfield, WV. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren - Gabe Miller and Emily Haydel - San Francisco; Andy Miller, Austin Miller, Chris Blackburn - of Hagerstown; Kyle Miller and Garret Miller - Brunswick; Crystall Summers - PA; Sandra Summers - Williamsport; Tanjorie Godwin - CT; KC, Patsy and LeeAnn Summers - Hagerstown; Nellie Summers - Alabama. She leaves behind 1 brother - John Taulton and wife Debbie - Jefferson.

Mary Belle Droneburg (Setters)
     Mrs. Mary Belle Setters, 88, of Jefferson, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born in Jefferson on September 23, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Charlotte Stockman Droneburg.
     Before her retirement, Mrs. Setters was employed by the Frederick Memorial Hospital for 22 years.
She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jefferson. She served as the church secretary for 42 years, also in her earlier years, she was an active choir member and taught a kindergarten class in Sunday School.
     She was an avid quilter, loved gardening and enjoyed playing the piano.
Surviving are two daugh- ters: Susan L. Leatherman and husband Edwin, of Waynesboro, PA; and Julie A. Duncan and husband Kent Carter, of Charles Town, WV; seven grandchildren: Kathy Hess and husband Tony, Laura Michalsky and hus- band Michael, Kelly DeGroff, Emily Leatherman, Wayne Duncan, Wesley Duncan and Chloe Divel and husband Bryan, ten great-grandchildren and one nephew, John Droneburg. She was pre- ceded in death by one son, Wesley Setters, and one brother, John Droneburg.
     Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 30, 2013, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick.

Mr. Norman T. Geary
     Mr. Norman T. Geary, 44, of Jefferson passed away, surrounded by his family, on Saturday March 23, 2013 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, Frederick.
     Born on January 29, 1969 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of Thomas Geary and the late Nancy Hood Geary.
     He was an avid drag racing enthusiast and a former crew chief of the "Black Stallion" monster truck. He was a member of the Woodsboro American Legion. Norman thoroughly enjoyed driving trucks for DOT Transportation in Williamsport and was well respected and liked by his many co-workers.
     In addition to his father he is survived by his step mother, Carolyn Geary, sister Norma Jean Gossart and husband Mark of Middletown, brothers Thomas (Mike) Geary and wife Susan of Knoxville, Robin Geary of Middletown and step brother Kenneth Nicholls and step sister Charlene Bishop, nephew Christopher Geary and niece Erin Gossart, Aunt and Uncle Dale and Diane Geary, and cousins Kristi Rogers and Eric Geary.

Louisa "Peggy" Dawson (Tyeyar)
Mrs. Louisa "Peggy" Tyeryar, 84, of Boonsboro, passed away at home on March 17, 2013. She as the wife of the late Frederick Tyeryar, who died in 1988.
     Born September 6, 1928 in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Dawson and Florence Edith DeGrange.
She was an avid reader and a crossword puzzle enthusiast, and she enjoyed being a caregiver for her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
     Peggy is survived by a daughter, Linda Hopkins and husband Mason, Sr. of Dickerson, MD; a son, Richard Hawes and wife Kathi of California; a daughter, Dawn Flook and husband Mark, Sr. of Boonsboro; a brother, Kenneth Dawson and wife Evelyn of Cumberland, MD; six grandchildren, Mason Hopkins, Jr., Mark Hopkins, Amiee Gotthom, Mark Flook, Jr., Rebecca Hawes, and Nicole Duncan; eleven great- grandchildren; her beloved cat, Tigger; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
     She was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Hawes, and her sister, Celicia "Tippy" Lydard.

William Tritapoe Class 1948
     William Leonard Tritapoe, 81, of Boonsboro, Md., died Friday, March 8, 2013, at his home.Born on January 18, 1932, in Yarrowsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Calvin Thomas Tritapoe and Rhoda Younkins Tritapoe
     .He graduated from Brunswick High School on June 8, 1948.He was married to his loving wife of 39 years, Janet Wheaton Tritapoe.
      Bill served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion, Post 10, in Boonsboro, Md.Bill loved the town of Boonsboro and previously served on the Town Council as a Councilman.
     Bill had many professions during his lifetime. He worked as a salesman at many car dealerships and owned Tritapoe Auto Sales in Middletown, Md. He retired from Sharrett's Auto Center in Hagerstown, Md. He was a licensed real estate broker, who had worked for many agencies. He owned South Mountain Realty in Boonsboro, Md. Bill also was a longtime auctioneer, and he and his brother Calvin operated Pleasant Valley Auction, in Browns-ville, Md.
     In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mindy Barrons Allen and partner Nancy Flippin of Atlanta, Ga., Linda Tritapoe Walla and husband Steven of Keedysville, Md., Jennie Barrons O'Leary of Boonboro, Md., Robin Tritapoe Michael and husband John of Boonsboro, Md., and Allison Barrons and fiancé Page Gay of Boonsboro, Md.; six grandchildren, Bryan Walla of Hagerstown, Md., Kevin Walla of Westminster, Md., Luke Michael of Boonsboro, Md., Jared Michael of Boonsboro, Md., Katie O'Leary Salas of Ewing, Va., and Niki O'Leary of Yukon, Pa.; two great-granddaughters, Cassidy Hope O'Leary of Yukon, Pa., and Emily Grace Walla of Hagerstown, Md.; one brother, James Tritapoe, of Brownsville, Md.; and two sisters, Eileen Tritapoe Bayles of Frederick, Md., and Patsy Tritapoe Mohler of Brunswick, Md.

Charles Clifford Virts
Mr. Charles "Beanie" Clifford Virts, age 84 of Brunswick, Maryland died on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at VA Medical Center Washington DC.
     Charles was born on Sunday, April 29, 1928 in Lovettsville, VA. He was a son of the late Elbert Franklin Virts and the late Myrtle Riley Virts. He predeceased by longtime companion, Mildred Ely; daughter, Nancy Welsh; one sister and two brothers.
     Charles served in the Army during the Korean War, retiring from the B&O Railroad as a carman and machinist.
     He is survived by daughter, Ellen Rice and husband Charles of Cumberland, MD, and by his son, Clifford VanWinkle and Lisa of Brunswick, MD; a nephew Roy Virts of Brunswick, MD; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and close friends June Anders of Brunswick, MD and John "Jay" Robinson and family of Spring Hill, TN.
     Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lovettsville, VA. A Celebration of his life will follow the graveside services at the Ruritan Farmers Woods, Petersville MD.

John Cooper
     Mr. John Randolph Cooper passed away on Sun. morning, Mar. 3, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV, after a battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 84 years of age and the last of his immediate family. John was known as "JR," "Tune," and "Pick-up man."
     John was born in Brunswick, MD, on Aug. 17, 1928, to the late Florence O. Palmer Cooper and William I. Cooper. He was the husband of Ann L. Henderson Cooper. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper were married May 14, 1955, and were long-time residents of Petersville, MD.
     He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict receiving the Korean Service Medal with 2-Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Award, and he was honorably discharged in January 1953. John was employed with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, Ft. Detrick in Frederick, MD, and retired from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Poolesville's campus in Nov. 1990.
John was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Brunswick, MD, and before his illness, faithfully served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Fredericktonian Lodge #12 of the Masons as well as a member of the Sherman Lowry Post # 10421 of the VFW. He enjoyed going to the Charlestown Race Track and rabbit hunting with his rabbit dogs.
     Mr. Cooper leaves to mourn three children; Vanessa L. Williams, Petersville, MD; Rudolph "Rudy" J. Cooper, Frederick, MD; and Velva A. Cooper, Walkersville, MD; three granddaughters, Latoya Smothers, Brittany Williams, and Sharron Hunt; 4 great-grandchildren, Michael and Devonte Williams, Armani and Josiah Gloston; one sister-in-law, Clarice Henderson, Burkittsville, MD and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
     John was predeceased by two sons, Randolph "Tiggy" I. Cooper and Ricky J. Cooper.

Edgar Virts Jr Class 1940
     Mr. Edgar Cornelius Virts Jr. 91 of Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick MD; died Tuesday February 26, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born December 22, 1922 in Knoxville, Maryland he was the son of the late Edgar Cornelius Virts Sr. and Martha Murphy.
     Edgar was a former commissioner for Frederick County MD, serving from 1974-78, as well a member of the following organizations: The American Legion Post 96 of Brunswick, The Community Foundation of Frederick County, The Silver Bit Riding Club of Petersville MD, The Potomac Morgan Horse Club of Frederick MD, The Maryland State Jousting Club of Baltimore MD, The Frederick County Holstein Association and a past President, and The New Hope United Methodist Church of Brunswick.
Mr. Virts graduated from Brunswick High School in 1940. He served in the United States Marines, second Marine Division in the Pacific Theater.
     He is survived by a son, Michael Virts and wife Nancy of Knoxville MD; a brother, D. Richard Virts of Knoxville MD; grandson's, Michael Virts Jr. and wife Mandy and Shayne Patrick Virts, great-grandchildren, Justin Michael Virts and Michael Gabriel Virts, a former wife, Marilyn Virts of Connecticut.
     He was preceded by his parents, a son, William Virts, a wife, Geraldine Lowery Virts and a sister, Martha M. Sweadner.
The family will receive friends on Sunday March 3, 2013 at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick from 7-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday March 4, 2013. Officiating will be Pastor Katie Bishop.
     Mr. Virts will be buried at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD.
Brian Snoots Class 1992
Mr. Brian Alan Snoots, 39, of Knoxville, MD passed away suddenly from a mechanical accident on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
     Born on August 2, 1973 in Charles Town, WV he was the son of Gary R. Snoots and Judy D. Cooper both of Knoxville.
Brian was a 1992 graduate of Brunswick High School. He most recently worked for Brunswick Auto Repair as a mechanic. Brian enjoyed fixing cars and racing trucks. From a very early age he began tinkering with cars and always wanted to be a mechanic. He also enjoyed off road sports such as mud bogging, snow mobiling and 4-wheeling.
     In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter Brittany Marie Snoots whom he loved more than life itself; brothers Dwayne Beachamp and wife Ann of Jefferson and Charles Beauchamp and wife Mary of Berryville, VA; sister Deanna Bauer and her significant other Brad Young of Knoxville, MD; former wife Tammy Crouse of Frederick, MD; nieces and nephews Dawna Beauchamp, Matthew Beauchamp, Heather Pellerito and Andy, Amanda Beauchamp and Nick Pluscht, Carson Bauer, Lauren Young, and Andrew and Logan Pellerito and numberous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
     A memorial service will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 1 PM. Pastor Paul Papp will officiate.
Interment will be private.

Mrs. Mary Jeannette Ephraim (1921 - 2013)
Mrs. Mary Jeannette Ephraim, 91, of Brunswick passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at College View Center, Frederick MD.
     Born June 13, 1921 in Frederick MD, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Alfonso House and Elizabeth May Bowers.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Brunswick. In her younger years she was an RN working at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Later in life she was the owner/operator of Ephraim's Liquors in Brunswick.
     She is survived by one sister, Eileen Jenkins of Frederick and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ephraim was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth E. Merriman.
     A viewing will take place on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 11-11:45 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Petersville, MD where a graveside service will be held at 12 noon in the Church cemetery. Officiating will be Deacon L. P. Teixeira.

Mr. Hayes William "Jim" Huffer Sr. Class of 1940
Mr. Hayes "Jim" William Huffer Sr. 92 of Brunswick MD died February 14, 2013 at the VA Center in Martinsburg WV.
     Born on November 18, 1920 in Burkettsville MD he was the son of the late Harry Russell Huffer and Annie May Remsburg.
Jim as he was known to most retired from the B&O Railroad in Brunswick and the Norfolk Naval yard as a machinist in 1982. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 96 and the VFW Post 10421 both of Brunswick.
     He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Myrtle Kronk Huffer, a Daughter Linda and husband Robert Balagna of Groveland IL; Son Hayes and Donna Huffer Jr. of Jefferson MD; Brother Harry "Rainey" Huffer of Rosemont MD; Grandchildren Heather and Steve Charchut of East Lansing MI; Holly and John Finney of Harpers Ferry WV; Kendra and Dave Bailey of Morton IL; Sarah and Justin McChesney of Davenport IA; Korrinne and Thong Nguyen of Ashburn VA; Kevin and Nicky Umbaugh of Sumter SC; Kristin and Chris Dunham of Italy and 10 Great Grandchildren.
     He was preceded by his parents, Daughter Bonnie Umbaugh; two Brothers, Paul Ivan "Bucky" Huffer and Howard "Red" Huffer; and a Sister Evelyn Maxine Jessee.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday February 19, 2013 from 7 to 9 PM at the John T. John Mitchell Redmon
     John Mitchell Redmon, 26, died on January 17, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born on June 15, 1986, he was the son of Robert A. Redmon of Brunswick, and Pamela Dixon Funk and Michael Sargent of Knoxville.
     John enjoyed fishing, martial arts, and hanging out with his friends.He is survived by son Tyson Redmon of Frederick, son Kyrique Pearson of Frederick, half-brother Justin Bohrer and half-sister Nichole Bohrer, both of Knoxville; grandmother Janice Linton of Knoxville; grandfather George Funk of Pensboro, WV; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.He was preceded in death by brother Kenneth Redmon, grandmother Doris Jones, and grandfather Billy Redmon.

John Mills
     Mr. John L. Mills 80 of Frederick, MD passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born June 15, 1932 in Brunswick, Maryland he was the son of the late John L. Mills and Anna Kathleen Webb Mills.
     He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and worked on the USS Midway. John retired as an Insurance Agent and also a school bus driver. He drove the bus on school field trips which he loved dearly. John also loved playing golf.He was a devoted Mason and he just received his 50 year pin and enjoyed being a Keystone Cop with the Mason's. He was also very devoted to the Shriners Hospital.
     He is survived by his loving companion Ethel Testerman of Frederick, three children, Kevin Mills and wife Karen of Reston, VA, Robert D. Mills, and wife Bonnie of Simpsonville, SC and Vicki Mills of Frederick, four grandchildren, Colin Mills, Elizabeth Boutin, Jeremy Mills and Sarah Buehler and great granddaughter, Leslie Mills, brother, Ralph Mills and wife Laureda and two sisters, Ann Fahrenkrog and Sharon Steweart, and a special nephew, Michael Mills.He will also be remembered by his dear friends, Linden Hamilton , Larry Walsh and Bobby Hahn along with his numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Doris Mills.

Richard Maurice Floyd
     Mr. Richard Maurice Floyd of Jefferson, Maryland entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 after a brief and courageous battle with Mesothelioma. He was the husband of Virginia L. Painter Floyd for 46 years.
      Born on December 4, 1940 in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of the late Maurice Jennings and Edna Leona Floyd .Richard was a 1959 graduate of Frederick High School and was currently serving as President of the Frederick High School Alumni Association.His professional career includes 27 years with IBM beginning as a Journeyman HVAC Technician and advancing to Manager of Facilities Systems Engineering. He had a keen interest in Environment, Safety and Health and changed career paths and became a Staff Engineer. When Lockheed Martin took ownership of his division he became the Environmental, Safety and Health Program Specialist. After his retirement he enjoyed working part time for the YMCA in Frederick.
     Richard served his country for 4 years in the United States Air Force in the Strategic Air Command and was stationed at Homestead Airforce Base in Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis.He loved his community and was very active in it. He was a member of the Jefferson United Church of Christ, singing in the choir and serving on the consistory as an Elder. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 11 and the Elks Club, BPOE 684. He coached Youth T ball and Little League baseball for 11 years and youth league basketball in Brunswick for 4 years.Richard was very civic minded and driven to make his community a better place for all. He spent 40 years actively working toward the sustainability of Frederick County as an advocate for responsible growth and envi- ronmental stewardship. He served on the Frederick County Planning Commission for 12 years. He also served on the Frederick County Charter Writing Committee 1990 - 1991 and the Zoning Rewrite Committee 1996. He was a founding member of several advocacy groups, Frederick County Civic Federation, Citizens for Quality of Life and Friends of Frederick County. He was an active member of the Maryland Citizens Planners Association and served as president for two years and was a past Regional Vice President of the Safety Council of Maryland, Inc., a chapter of the National Safety Council. Richard also ran for the office of Frederick County Commissioner in 2002 and again in 2006.
     In addition to his wife he is survived by, sons Scott Floyd and wife Shannon of Martinsburg, WV and Aaron Floyd and wife Michelle of Frederick; grandchildren, Rebekah Floyd, Joshua Floyd, Jacob Floyd, Wesley VanFleet and Tyler Browne; sister, Linda English and husband Scott of Smithsburg; nephews, Steve Stevens and Matt Stevens; nieces, Jennifer Stevens Long and husband Dan, Amanda Stevens and Maurlea Long.

     Mrs. Dorothy Marie Ault, 63, of Knoxville, MD went to be with her beloved husband in Heaven on Saturday, January 5, 2013.Born July 2, 1949 in Pipertown, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Guy and Maude Lucille Piper.
     She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Leon Ault, Sr. and her brother, Garland Leroy Piper.She leaves behind four loving children, daughter, Tammy Ault of Sandy Hook, MD; sons, Jesse Ault, Jr. and Pam Slifer of Brunswick, MD; Glenn Ault and Tina Pyles of Halltown, WV and her Baby Boy, Mike Ault, Sr. and Wife, Missy, of Kearneysville, WV; seven grandchildren, Tristan, Chad, Jesse Jr., Jordan, Brandi, Mike Jr., and Destiny; eight great grandchildren and lifelong friend, Marlene Hackley.Dorothy's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quality of time in which one lives.
     Her small hands cooked dinners for many family and friends. She never met a stranger and her good food touched many people.      Mrs. Mildred Pauline "Reynolds" Reeser 86 of Brunswick MD died on January 1, 2013 at Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick
Born April 23, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Lester Miller Reynolds and Lucille Elizabeth Crum Reynolds.She is survived by her sisters, Doris Izzo of Frederick MD, Margaret Webber of Gapland MD, Evelyn Himes of Knoxville, MD, Bonnie Deener of Boonsboro, MD, and one brother Bernard C. Reynolds of Myrtle Beach, SC.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilbert F. Earle Lynn Follin
      Mr. Earle Lynn Follin, 84 of Brunswick passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012.Born May 1, 1928 in Purcellville, VA, he was the son of the late Theodore D. Follin, Sr. and Stella Moreland Follin    
.     Êarle Lynn was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Lincoln, VA, Class of 1947. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute for (Dairy Herd Improvement Asso. (DHIA) & Animal Husbandry courses, and the ESSO Management Training School.He was a member of Petersville Luther Chapel, and was the founder of the former Merryland Chapter of the Isaac Walton League of America (IWLA).
      Lynn was instrumental in getting a boat ramp placed on the Maryland side of the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, WV. He was also a member of the Brunswick Eagles Club Aerie 1136, and was a life member of the Frederick County Fish and Game Association. Lynn greatly enjoyed the out-of-doors, especially hunting, fishing, golf, gardening and farm life, and boating.
     Lynn retired from the National Institute of Science & Technology, (formerly National Bureau of Standards) in 1987, receiving numerous awards. He was a civilian employee on the Guard Force at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) Bethesda Naval Hospital, and was the proprietor of Follin's Esso/Exxon Servicenter for 25 years. He managed the Imperial Theater in Brunswick in 1951-52, was employed at Frederick Iron & Steel, and served as DIDA Supervisor for Frederick County, for the Eastern Shore of MD, and for Loudoun County, VA.
     He is survived by his wife, Betty M. (Stull) Follin, one son: James E. Follin; four daughters: Lynne A. Markwell, Janet E. Ring and husband John, Jane F. Kuhn, Joanne E. Beardsley and husband Charles; daughter-in-law Debbie Follin; son-in-law Steven Kuhn; eight grandchildren: Brent and Nathan Follin, Matt (wife Megan) and Meghan Kuhn, Jaimie Shirley, Derek Beardsley, Jason Markwell (wife Sarah), Julie Markwell; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers: Gordon and Theodore Follin. Lynn was the last of his immediate family.
     Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 2:00PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave., Brunswick. The family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to service time.      Mr. Clarence Daniel Shafer, 89, of Jefferson MD went to be with the Lord on Friday December 28, 2012 at his home.Born July 20, 1923 in Middletown MD. He was the son of the late Amos J. Shafer and Leva Catherine Flook Shafer.

     Donald Leslie Ault, 68, of Sandy Hook, MD passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his home of his caregiver Carroll Ault of Sandy Hook, MD. Born January 15, 1944 in Pleasantville, MD, he was the son of the late George W. Ault and Ruth Myers Ault.
     He was retired from Wal-Mart in Charles Town, WV. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Bunnie Sue Ault: 2 brothers: Jesse L Ault, Sr. and Jerry W. Ault.He is survived by three sisters: Dolores Kauffman of Smithsburg, MD; Kay Hostler of Mannings, WV; and Debbie Hoffman of Kearneysville, WV; as well as one brother: Rickey L.
