Mrs. Sarah Lucille Bowings, 87, of Knoxville, died Thursday, Jan. 10,
2008, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1920 in
Knoxville as a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Alice Stewart Moss.
She had worked for many years as a presser
for Frederick Tailoring, Sagner's and Muse Tailoring. She was a member of
the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the AARP, Juniors Fire Company
Auxiliary, and the Francis Scott Key American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving is one brother, Lenwood Moss and
wife, Sherley of Walkersville; one sister, Rosie Moss of Frederick; a
niece, Linda Moss of Knoxville; a nephew, Thomas E. Moss of Kearneysville,
W.Va.; three great-nephews, Timothy Moss and Carrie, Daniel Moss and
Heather and Shawn Moss and Emily; also surviving are two
great-great-nieces and two great-great-nephews.
She will also be remembered by a former
sister-in-law, Dorothy Moss, of Knoxville.
Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home,
106 E. Church St., Frederick, with the family receiving friends one hour
prior to services. The Rev. Ronald E. Reaves, pastor of Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet
Cemetery, Frederick.

Hospital.
Born Dec. 18, 1919, in
Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late James Ezra Albert and Gertrude
Weddle Brown.
She was preceded in
death by her husband of 43 years, Stanley S. "Hank" Cooper, in 1983.
She was a graduate of Brunswick High School.
She was a homemaker.
She
was of the Methodist faith.
She was
a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136 Auxiliary of Brunswick.
She is survived by two sons, Stanley L. Cooper of Knoxville,
Md., and Larry M. Cooper of Brunswick; 13 grandchildren; 22
great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death
by one daughter, Reba J. Cooper; two sons, James W. Cooper and Roy W.
Cooper; two sisters, Marion Wood and Louise Powers-Bell; and two brothers,
Lee Albert and Ray Albert.
Services
will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick.
Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.

Mr. Michael Webber

Michael A. Webber, age 57, passed away December
13, 2007, after a long battle with kidney disease.
Born June 1, 1950 in Frederick County,
he was the son of late Evelyn and Roland Webber. He graduated from
Brunswick High School in 1968. He worked at Coplay/Essroc Cement Company
for 30 years. After retirement in 1998, he and his wife, Phyllis, moved to
Florence, S.C. Michael was an avid movie fan, enjoyed Disney and Epcot. He
bowled with the Pee Dee USBC. He was a loving, devoted husband and a kind
loving person to all.
Michael is
survived by his wife, Phyllis, of 22 years, a brother, Kenneth of San
Antonio, Texas, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, and
many, many friends.
Memorial
services will be held in the Spring, when his ashes will be placed with
his parents' at Knoxville.

Mrs.
Katherine Marie Sharrer, 85, of Frederick, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007
with her family by her side at Sunrise Assisted Living in Frederick. She
was the loving wife of Donald F. Sharrer for 65 years. Born in
Burkittsville, on February 24, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Harry
and Maude Stup Ahalt.
Mrs. Sharrer was a
graduate of Brunswick High School and the Frederick Hospital School of
Nursing. She was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic
Church and the Catholic Daughters.
She had
worked for several years as a nurse at the Frederick Memorial Hospital and
was retired after 25 years as an instructional aid at the Scott Key
Center.
Her family would like to extend a
thank you for the wonderful care given to her by the staff at Sunrise
Assisted Living.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are seven
children, Donald F. Sharrer Jr., and his wife, Barbara, of Roanoke, Va.,

Edna Loudell Bartlett, 56, of
Frederick, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at her home. She was the
loving wife of David E. Bartlett.
Born February 23, 1951 in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late
Floyd C. and Virginia (Sis) Lowery.
Loudell retired from the
U.S. Government with 27 years of service on May 3. She was a Budget
Analyst at Fort Detrick.
Loudell
was a 1969 graduate of Brunswick High School. She loved playing basket
bingo and enjoyed collecting Longaberger Baskets. She also enjoyed
watching her boys as well as her grandchildren play sports.
In addition to her husband, Dave, she
is survived by three sons, David Dinges and wife, Shannon, of Charles
Town, W.Va., Steve Dinges and wife, Amy, of Jefferson, and Paul Brohawn
and fiancˇ, Jackie Kujawski, of Walkersville; one daughter, Jennifer
Bartlett, of Frederick; 10 grandchildren, Cody, Allie, Zachary D., Zachary
K., Ryan, Dakota, David, Collin, Zoe and Aidan; three sisters, Linda Thee
and husband, Clyde, of Brunswick, Pattie Nichols and husband, George, of

Ms. Catherine Virginia Coffman

Catherine
Virginia Coffman Smith age 95 was born to Russell Blaine Coffman and Sara
Elizabeth Burke Coffman in Edinburg, Va., on November 23, 1911. She moved
with her family to Brunswick, in 1912 and lived in Frederick County until
her move to Colorado in 2001. Catherine was in excellent health until a
stroke on Sunday, October 21, 2007.
She graduated from Brunswick High School class of 1929 and from The
Frederick Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1932. Catherine married
George William Smith II August 1, 1943 and they had two children, George
William Smith III, of Thurmont, and Susan Blaine Craig, of Elbert, Colo.
Catherine worked in the nursing
profession from 1932 until retiring in 1974.
During that
time, she was employed by Dr. William Schnauffer owner of the Brunswick
Private Hospital and Frederick Memorial Hospital, specializing in
pediatrics.
Catherine was always
ready for a joke, a good time, and loved adventure. She was an excellent
swimmer, ice skater, roller skater and horseman; however, she could never
ride a bicycle, which really annoyed her. She parasailed at age 86, swam
and rode horses well into age 89.
She was a Charter member of Order of the Easter Star, Brunswick Chapter
97, Auxiliary of the Citizen Nursing Home, Buckeystown Methodist Church,
and Johnsville Senior Citizens Group

Mary Elmira Cummings, of
Lovettsville, Va., died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Homewood at Crumland
Farms in Frederick.
Born July 14,
1914 in Brunswick, she was the daughter of Daniel David Orndorff and
Carrie Carter Orndorff.
She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Brunswick and a graduate of Brunswick High School,
class of 1931.
Surviving Mary are
her two daughters, Donna Cummings of Brunswick, and Patricia Potts and
husband, Larry, of Leesburg, Va.; one son, Todd Cummings and wife, Cathy,
of Lovettsville, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Debbie Johnson, Vicki Fowler,
Kevin Shomaker, Kristi Karle, Kathy Craft, Kendall Shomaker, Carter Potts,
Colleen Giardina, Cameron Potts, Kelly van Weezal, Mary Cummings, Sarah
Cummings and Tyler Cummings; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great
grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, James Lee Cummings; one son, Dale Lee
Cummings; a daughter, Doris Elaine Shomaker; and two brothers, Jess David
Orndorff and Lawrence Langdon Orndorff.
A funeral service will be held at 11
a.m. Friday, Oct. 19 at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville
Road, Brunswick, with the Rev. Lee Crosby will officiate.
Interment will be at Old Brethren
Cemetery at Brownsville.

James Wendle Haller,
79, of Brunswick, passed away on October 13, 2007, at his home. He was the
husband of Beverly Langley Haller for 57 years. Jim was born August 21,
1928, in Brunswick to Margaret "Ruth" Selby Haller and Irving "Jim"
McComas Haller. He was a member of St. Francis/St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Jim retired from the B&O
Railroad after 19 years of service. He then worked for the FAA at Dulles
International Airport as an electrician and retired in 1988. Jim served in
the United States Navy, aboard the USS Iowa. He was a member of the
Brunswick Moose, American Legion, and Eagles. Jim always enjoyed the many
hunting, fishing, and crabbing trips with his sons, grandsons, nephews and
friends.
In addition to his loving
wife, Jim is survived by his sister, Dorothy Vint of Ferndale, and three
sons, James D. and his wife, Patti, of New Cumberland, Pa.; Michael "Ed"
and his wife, Denise, of Knoxville; and Richard "Dicky" G. of Brunswick.
Jim has five grandsons, Jason Wendle of New Cumberland, Pa.; Chad Edward
of Knoxville; Jeremy Michael of Dillsburg, Pa.; Ryan James of Knoxville;
and Bret Michael of Knoxville. He also has three great-granddaughters,
Bailey Ryanne, Winifred Dorothy, Sage Dakota, and one great-grandson, Lako
James. Jim is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be the five
grandsons and John "Don" Marklin, a dear friend. Friends may call from 9

Carroll Anthony "Tony" Webber, 60, of Knoxville,
passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Frederick Memorial
Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara Marlene Webber. They were married
for 35 years.
Born December 12, 1946 in
Baltimore, he was the son of the late John and Mary Webber.
He was a
member of St. Mary's and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Tony retired after 32 years from the
Government, where he worked for the US Park Service as the head of
maintenance.
He was a lifetime member of the Brunswick Volunteer Fire
Department for 41 years where he held every administrative position. He
was currently serving as vice president.
He
was also a member of the Eagles in Brunswick. He loved to travel and he
has traveled to all 50 states and 17 countries.
In addition to his
loving wife, Barbara, he is survived by a son, Todd Webber, of Knoxville,
and fiancˇe Kimberly, of Brunswick; a daughter, Amy Cullen and husband
Christopher, of Frederick; two grandchildren, Kursten Marlene Cullen and
Virginia Dominique Beacht; and a brother, Rhett Webber and wife Rose, of
the Philippines. He will also be remembered by all of his other family and
friends.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. on
Friday, Oct. 12 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave.,
Brunswick, where the family will be present to receive friends from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. The procession will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct.
13, at the funeral home and will travel to the services where a Mass of
Christian Burial will start at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church,
Catholic Church Road, Petersville, with Deacon Lawrence Teixeira
officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's
Catholic Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Cullen,
Edward Beacht, AJ Smothers, Roy Lipscomb, Richard Massari, Earskon Myers,
Dwain Webber and Keith Webber. There will be three honorary pallbearers,
Bubby Spence, Freda Leopold and Lyndi 'Damico.

Mrs. Fannie Maxine Souder, 92, of Rosemont, passed away peacefully on
Thursday, September 27, 2007 at her home. She was the loving wife of the
late T. Woodrow Souder, who died July 29, 1981.
She was born October 16, 1914 in Germantown,
and was the daughter of the late David Clifford Shrader and Emma Crum
Shrader Hoffmaster.
Mrs. Souder, a homemaker, was a member of the
Jefferson United Church of Christ, for many years. She was a member of the
Merryland Tract Homemakers and a former member of the Order of the Eastern
Star.
She was a graduate of Brunswick High
School in the class to 1931, and she attended Frostburg University. She
was a judge for county fairs and community shows.
She enjoyed her family, as well as her
Yorkie, "Tillie," who was her loving companion. She was an avid collector
and enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and painting.

husband Robert of Poland, Ohio, Kay S. Cooper and husband Gary R. of
Rosemont, Patricia Struthers of Fenton, Mich., and Thomas Souder and wife
Brenda of Byron, Mich.; ten grandchildren, David Israel and Sandy of Lima,

Lewisville, N.C., Amy Davies and husband Jeff of Poland, Ohio, Teresa
Fawley and husband Terry of Jefferson, Kimberly Remsberg and husband

Shrader, her sister, Betty Spicknall, her brother, Meredith Hoffmaster and
her son-in-law, James Struthers.

Sept. 2, 2007, at Golden Living Center in Frederick.
She was born Aug. 9, 1929, in
Brunswick, to Benjamin Franklin Heffner and Ellinda Dinterman Heffner.
She was a retired production line supervisor with Airpax at
Frederick. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick.
Survivors include one aunt, Virginia
Dinterman, of Brunswick; one uncle, Leroy Dinterman, of Adamstown; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, aunts, uncles, a niece and cousins.

Shirley Lee Danner Wheeler, 68, of Charles Town,
W.Va., died Friday, August 17, 2007 at her home.
Born October 11, 1938 in Brunswick, she
was the daughter of the late Raymond Danner and Virginia Spring Danner.
She had worked for the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. and the
U.S. Parks Service.
Mrs. Wheeler
was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown and also
volunteered as secretary/treasurer for the Episcopal Church in
Shepherdstown and Brunswick.
She
was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter #948.
She
enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing.
She is survived by her husband of 50
years, Edward Nelson Wheeler; two sons, Edward Nelson Wheeler II, of
Durham, N.C., and Wilson Andrew Wheeler, of Harpers Ferry; two daughters,
Christina Arvin, of Boyce, Va., and Robin Marcus, of Charles Town, W.Va.;
seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law,
Patricia Hagan and husband, Joseph of Hagerstown.
At her request her body was donated to
the Humanity Gift Registry.

1938, in Brunswick, he was a son of the late Lee Robert Merriman and

He was a retired security guard
with NIH in Bethesda. Mr. Merriman was a member of Grace Episcopal Church
in Brunswick, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 1136, Loyal
Order of the Moose No. Lodge No. 1582 and Steedman-Keenan Post No. 96 of
the American Legion, all of Brunswick.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one sister, Ginny Lloyd of Brunswick; brother,
Billy Merriman of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews.

Merriman was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Merriman.

Felicia Grandel.
Mrs. Kline was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Frederick and a past member of the First Baptist Church
of Brunswick. She devoted her life to her family and service to others in
need. She retired as a clerk with National Geographic in Rockville, and a
past member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Bunch and husband Del of Neptune
Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Felicia Bunch Saucier and husband Stephen
of Columbia, Andrew David Bunch of Columbia, Crystal Ann Bunch and husband
David Osswald of Amityville, N.Y. and Dean Allen Bunch of Frederick; and
four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers,

She was the wife of the late Clarence G. West, who passed away May
19, 2007.
Born in Sandy Hook on May
18, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Charles Luther and Renos
(Riley) Shumaker. A graduate of Brunswick High School, Mae was a retired
department manager for F.W. Woolworth Five and Dime, having worked for
many years. She was a lifelong member of Sandy Hook United Methodist
Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed arts, crafts, and music.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra
Coblentz and husband Tom of Knoxville; a son, Jerry West and wife Diane
Worthington of Portland, Maine; five grandchildren, Bridget Doucette of
Danvers, Mass., Michelle Goulart of Glouchester, Mass., John West of
Saunderstown, R.I., Eric West of Huntington, Vt., and Jennifer Coblentz of
Frederick and fiancˇ Chris Rabel of Baltimore. She is also survived by
nine great grandchildren.

surviving member of her immediate family, Mae was preceded in death by

January 31, 1962, in Florida, she was the daughter of Jane Adkins of
Brunswick and the late Austin Adkins.
She was a beautiful,
strong woman who was devoted to making sure her kids and family knew what
they meant to her.
Carole loved
spending time with her family. She enjoyed listening to country music and
Kid Rock. She also enjoyed motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons.
She was a one time member of the
Brunswick Ambulance Company.
In addition to her mother, she
is survived by her best friend and father of her youngest daughter,
Stanley E. Landers of Jefferson; a daughter, Andrea Rankin and husband
Kevin of Frostburg; a daughter, Krystal Ann Landers Parsley and husband
Timothy Lee of Jefferson; five grandchildren; two sisters, Dixie Addis and
husband John of Georgia and Norma Droneburg of Brunswick and an adopted
sister, Donna Hahn of Brunswick.
She will also be remembered by her nieces, nephews, other relatives and
special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Michael S. Gordon and a brother-in-law, Darrell Droneburg.

Mrs. Brenda Bowman Jordan, 59, of
Toms River, N.J., died on Sunday, September 24, 2006, at the Hospital of
the University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Jordan was a registered nurse,
who retired from her work as a case manager in special child health
services of the Ocean County, New Jersey Health Department. A graduate of
the University of Maryland school of Nursing, Mrs. Jordan held public
health positions in Maryland, Kentucky, Michigan, Virginia, New York and
New Jersey. Mrs. Jordan was a member of the Morning Star Presbyterian
Church in Bayville, N.J.

husband, William H. Jordan Jr.; her son, James M. Bowman of Pigeon Forge,

Born August 8, 1922, in Knoxville, she
was a daughter of the late Clarence Raymond and Mary Lou Runkles Webber.
She was the wife of the late Charles Thomas Reed Sr.
Mrs. Reed had worked as an office clerk
for the Encyclopedia Americana Publishing Co. She was of the Lutheran
faith. Her hobbies were arts and crafts.
She is survived by three grandchildren,
Lisa Michelle Proctor and husband Brett of New York, Barbara Ann Brown and
husband Steve of Bowie and Charles Thomas Reed III and wife Natalie of
Rockville. A sister of Clarence Edgar Webber of Boonsboro. She was also

He was the husband of Mary Mae Shumaker
West, his wife of 67 years.
Born November 17, 1914, in Sandy
Hook, he was the son of the late Charles Clarence and Inez K. Gordon West.
Mr. West was a lifelong member of
Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer over 20
years. He worked insurance jobs in the early '40s. He retired in 1979,
after 30 years, as a bookkeeper from C. Oland Meitzner Inc. Among his many
enjoyments were model railroading, flowers, birds and word puzzles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived
by two children, Sandra Coblentz and husband Tom of Knoxville and Jerry
West and wife Diane Worthington of Portland, Maine; five grandchildren,
Jennifer Coblentz of Frederick and fiance Chris Rabel of Baltimore,
Bridget Doucette of Maine, John West of Rhode Island, Eric West of Vermont

Mr. Darrell Lee Droneburg, 45, of Brunswick, died Friday, May 11, 2007, at
Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Norma Jean Adkins
Droneburg, his wife of 24 years.
Born on February 5, 1962, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Russell
Franklin Droneburg and Carol Lee Remsburg Droneburg Daugherty and husband
Ronnie of Knoxville. Darrell was the Assistant Superintendent of Public
Works for the City of Brunswick. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and
all sports including golf, but truly loved riding his Harley. Darrell also
liked to work with his hands by woodworking, airbrush painting and working
on cars.
Surviving in addition to
his wife and mother are two children, Darrell L. Droneburg Jr. and friend
Jessie Taulton and Michelle R. Droneburg, all of Brunswick; a brother,
Jimmy Daugherty and friend Patrisha Cavell of Knoxville; and his
mother-in-law Jane L. Adkins, of Brunswick. Darrell will also be
remembered by his "adopted children," to whom he was lovingly known as
"Poppa Cheez." They include Myke Taulton, Kalen Scott, Brian Thackson,
Russell Rife, Clark Fink, Nick Demos, "Rev," Brian Neal, Eric Minnick and
Tim Abbott.

Mrs. Cinda May Wickham Mossburg, 28, of 4240A Gene Hemp Road,
Jefferson died Tuesday afternoon, July 26, 1994 at Frederick Memorial
Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas Edward Mossburg.
Born April 10, 1966, in Frederick, Mrs.
Mossburg was the daughter of Floyd C. and Betty Lee Myers Wickham of
Jefferson.
Mrs. Mossburg was a graduate
of Brunswick High School, class of 1984. She had been employed at
Fort Detrick, and for the past five years had been associated with Banner
Life Insurance Co. She was a member of Petersville Luther Chapel.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and
parents, are two sisters, Brenda Cunningham and her husband David of
Jacksonville, Ala., and Linda Morris and her husband LeRoy of Jefferson;
two nephews, Todd and Tyler Cunningham of Jacksonville, Ala.; two aunts
and one uncle, Anna Mae Murphy and her husband Howard of Adamstown and
Mrs. Marie Stonesifer of near-Brunswick; and a number of great-aunts,
uncles and cousins.
Mrs. Mossburg was preceded
in death by a sister, Vickie Lee Wickham.
The family will receive
friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, and Thursday, July 28, at the
Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Friends may also call on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services
will be held Friday, July 29, at 10 a.m. in Etchison Memorial Chapel of

Mr. Thomas Edward Mercer Sr.,
49, of Upper Marlboro, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007.
He is survived by his parents, Wallace
and Edna Mercer of Point of Rocks.
Born October 19, 1957, in
Holyoke, Mass., he was a graduate of--Brunswick High School. He was a
loving father, son and brother.--He was employed by Solid Rock
Foundation--Concrete Company.
Surviving, besides his parents, is one daughter, Tamara Mercer; one son,
Thomas Mercer Jr.; one brother, Wallace Mercer IV; two sisters, Jeanmarie
Bartlett and Eileen Markum; one special brother-in-law, Ronnie Markum; and
a host of other relatives and friends from the Solid Foundation Concrete
Company.
He-- was preceded in death
by a daughter, Tabitha Mercer; and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Mercer.

BROWNSVILLE - Ralph Junior
"Red" Proctor, 85, of Brownsville, Md., went to be with the Lord on
Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 19, 1921, in Weverton, Md., Red was
the son of the late Ralph A. and Elizabeth Barger Proctor.
He attended
Weverton Elementary School and graduated from Brunswick High School in
1941. Red was an avid baseball player from his youth into his early adult
years. Although his baseball playing was interrupted by World War II, he
returned to playing in 1945 and through this activity met his future wife.
Red worked as an aircraft sheet metal
mechanic at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown for 20 years and at the U.S.
Naval Air Facility at Andrews Air Force Base for 17 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving
with the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Trinidad for two years. Red was a
member for many years at Weverton Baptist Church, where he served as a
deacon, Sunday school teacher for 56 years, superintendent and as a member
of the Board of Trustees. In recent years, he was a member of Victory
Baptist Church near Boonsboro. He was a devoted Christian all his adult
life and spent countless hours witnessing for the Lord and visiting the
sick and shut-ins. He was a student of Moody Bible Institute and had
studied under President Miles at Washington Bible College.
He was a charter member of the Pleasant
Valley Ruritan Club and was a member of Clopper-Michael American Legion
Post 10 in Boonsboro.
Red is survived by his
wife of 60 years, Betty Harrison Proctor; two daughters, Dawn Proctor
Deener and husband, Robert, of Boonsboro, and Nancy Proctor Alga of
Brownsville and husband, James Alga; one son, Barry Lynn Proctor of
Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren, Marissa Deener, Robert A. Deener and
wife, Haley, Chasen Deener and Michelle Alga; one great-grandson, Aden
Deener; one brother, James Proctor and wife, Doris, of Hagerstown; and
many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was
preceded in death by his sister, Betty Proctor Danner.
Funeral
services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church. The Rev.
Edward J. Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights
Cemetery.

Mr. Gary Marlin Virts, 67, of 744
Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, died Tuesday, June 18, at Frederick Memorial
Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Shriver Virts, his wife of 40 years.
Born July 11, 1934, in Brunswick, he
was a son of the late Orion Jacob and Madeline Moler Virts.
Mr.
Virts was a retired civil engineer with 30 years of service for the
Division of Public Works in Frederick County.
He was a charter member of Faith
Baptist Church in Knoxville. For the last three years, he was a member of
and assisted in starting Real Life Community Church in Hagerstown. He was
a member of the choir, "One God and One Voice."
Mr. Virts was a veteran of the U.S.
Army, serving from 1957 to 1959.
Surviving in addition to his
wife are two daughters, Chris Chevalier and husband James of Hagerstown,
and Susan Miller and husband Donn of Jefferson; one sister, L. Duane Smith
and husband Lee of Ellicott City; four grandchildren, Matthew Brandon
Miller, Daniel James Chevalier, Kathryn Danielle Miller and Joshua Gary
Chevalier; one aunt, Elizabeth Wheeler of Brunswick; two nieces, Teri Alva
of North Carolina, and Melinda Niles and husband Tim of Hampstead; and one
nephew, James Johnston of Chambersburg, Pa.
Mr. Virts was preceded in death by one
brother, Noel Orion Virts.

2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at John T. Williams Funeral

Clayton Leftwich Class of 1946
Harry Clayton Leftwich, 77, of Springdale, Pa. died March 21, 2007 at
Harmar Village, Pa. He was born Jan. 16, 1930 in Clifton Force, Va., to
the late' Harry" C. and Grace (Farrier) Leftwich. Clayton graduated from
Brunswick High School with the Class of 1946, having spent his childhood
here when his father was director of the YMCA.
After attending Virginia Tech and WV Wesleyan College, he graduated from
Kutztown University with a degree in art education. Clayton
served in the Navy from 1952-1956, principally on the transport USS
Botetourt. Since 1956 , he has been employed by the Allegheny Valley
School District, teaching art and mechanical drawing in the junior and
senior high schools, retiring in 1989 after 33
years.
As a teacher, he is remembered as
caring and gentle, treating students like part of an extended family" He
is credited with laying the foundation of the Springdale art program
with his innovative ideas.
He was an active
member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion, and on the
board of the Springdale Free Public Library. He specially enjoyed his
collection of hats and pigs.
Survivors are his
wife of 53 ears, Barbara Guess Leftwich; daughter, Carrie (Bernard)
Martin of Templeton; daughter-in-law Judy Noah Leftwich of
Murrysville; son Neil (Judy) Leftwich of Avondale, AZ.; grandchildren
Rebecca Mundok of Pittsburgh, Emily, David, Rachel Leftwich of
Murrysville, and a sister Mary( Earl) Hopper of DesPeres, MO. In addition
to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Leftwich in
October 2006.

William Richard "Mike" Webber, 81, of Rohrersville, died Monday, April 23,
2007, at Fahrney-Keedy Home near Boonsboro
Born June 10, 1925, in
Knoxville, Mike was the son of the late Ralph Edgar and Edna Catherine
Merriman Webber.
He graduated from
Brunswick High School in 1943.
Mike retired from the
National Park Service at Harpers Ferry National Park in 1980.
He was a veteran of World War II,
serving in the U. S. Navy on the USS Hornet aircraft carrier.
Mike was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church
near Rohrersville.
He was a
member of the Brunswick Masonic Lodge 191 and the Brunswick Fraternal
Order of Eagles 1136.
Mike is survived by his wife of
57 years, Margaret Jeanette Reynolds Webber; three daughters, Gail Stern
and husband Ira of Montgomery Village, Holly Benson and husband Gene of
Smithsburg, and Wendee McFalls and husband Dave of Waynesboro, Pa.; six
grandchildren, Reanna Nicole Tarleton, Stephen Thomas McFalls, Nicholas
Aaron Benson, McKenzie Nichole Benson, Jared Andrew Stern and Nathan
Daniel Stern; a niece/"daughter" Debbra Huffer and husband Warren of
Jefferson, and a nephew, Wayne Hawes and wife Donna of Brunswick.

a.m. Thursday at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Raymond Scheck
will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Locust
Grove.

Mr. Carroll D. Brawner, of Pocahontas, Ark., died
Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Randolph County Medical Center in Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Jan McSwain
Brawner of Pocahontas.
Born on July 7, 1943, in Brunswick,
he was the son of the late John Brawner and Nell Fae Booth Brawner.
Mr. Brawner served in the United States
Navy. He was a computer operator with the airlines.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, David
Brawner of Denver, Colo., Shane Brawner of Granbury, Texas, and Jason
Stamper of Hagerstown; one daughter, Tammy Johnson of Brunswick; one
brother, Charles Thomas Brawner of Hancock; two sisters, Wanda Lora of
Colonel Beach, Va., and Patricia Washington of Springfield, Va.; and 10
grandchildren.

Ms. Charlotte
Patricia Kern, 62, fondly known as Patti, of Frederick, died Saturday,
March 31, 2007, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1944, in
Frederick, the daughter of the late Pat and Eugene Werking.
She was a teacher for more than 20 years at North Frederick
Elementary School. She had previously taught at Brunswick Elementary,
Maryland School for the Deaf, Good Shepherd Pre-School, and Virginia Beach
Country Day School.
She was a
member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick and a former member of
Bethany Lutheran Church. She also was a member of the Sarah Group, Girl
Scouts of America, FCTA Representative and The FISH Ministry.
She is survived by one daughter, Tricia
Jarrell of Frederick; one granddaughter, Morgan Jarrell of Frederick; one
sister, Diane Wenner and husband David of Brunswick; one nephew, David
Wenner Jr. and wife Jennifer of Brunswick; and loving cousins and friends.
Besides her parents, she was
preceded in death by a beloved son, Jody Kern.
Services will
be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, A
Street and First Avenue, Brunswick, with the Rev. Andrea Ernest and the
Rev. Dr. David Oravec officiating.
Interment will be in Park Heights Cemetery in Brunswick.

Richard Clay Bowers, 87, of Frederick, passed away
on Friday, March 23, 2007 at his home. He was the husband of
Elaine Koogle Bowers.
Born November
5, 1919 in Point of Rocks, Md., he was the son of the late Elmer Eugene
Bowers, Lillie May Hickman Bowers and a stepmother, Catherine Reed Bowers.
Mr. Bowers was a member of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick.
He was a graduate
of Brunswick High School and numerous military schools, including a 1968
graduation from the Command & General Staff College.
He was a retired Colonel from the
United States Army. He was a veteran of W.W.II and served in the Third
Army as a platoon and company commander. He was awarded the Bronze Star
Medal while serving the 16th Armored Division in Czechoslovakia. After the
war he remained active in the Army Reserve, including the headquarters
company of the 558th/559th Signal Corp in Frederick. He was a Life Member
Reserve Officer Association.
He was
a Life Member of the American Legion Post 96 in Brunswick. He served as
Deputy Vice Commander of the Maryland American Legion. A Life Member of
the VFW in Frederick. A Life Member of the P.T.A. at Brunswick Elementary
School. Past President of the Brunswick Lion's Club. He was also known for
organizing the Veteran's Day Parade in Brunswick before his retirement.
Mr. Bowers worked for Litton
Chevrolet in Brunswick for many years and then went to work in the
underwriting department of State Farm Insurance in Frederick where he
retired in 1984.
He enjoyed
traveling, dining out and working in his yard.
In addition
to his loving wife Elaine he is survived by a son, Richard C. Bowers Jr.
and wife Vicki of Chester, Va.; three grandchildren, Sandra Wood, Sarah
Bowers and Matthew Bowman; two great grandchildren, Celia Wood and Trinity
Bowman; a brother, Elmer Eugene Bowers Jr. and wife Margaret; a sister,
Janet Wines and husband Francis. He will also be remembered by his
numerous nieces and nephews.
He is
preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lane Jordan and a sister, Ann
Pence.

Mildred Ellen "Millie" Burch, 84, of Knoxville, died Saturday, March 17,
2007, at Vindobona Nursing Home, Braddock Heights.
Born June 21, 1922, in Brunswick, she
was a daughter of the late Dallas and Mary Rice Kidwell.
She
was a retired accountant with Phillips Insurance of Brunswick.
Mrs. Burch was a 1939 graduate of
Brunswick High School and a 1941 graduate of Strayer College with a
Bachelor of Commercial Science in accounting. She was a member of the
First United Methodist of Brunswick, Past Matron of Brunswick Chapter 97
Order of the Eastern Star in 1952, past president of the Past Matrons and
Past Patrons Association of Central Maryland, as well as a member of the
Past Matrons and Past Patrons of Association of Brunswick, a member of Re
Temple 118 Daughters of the Nile, member of the Century Temple 4 of
Pythian Sisters, past charter president of Brunswick Lioness Club, past
president of Brunswick Elementary PTA and life member of Maryland Congress
PTA.
She is survived by her husband
of 62 years, Bernard B. Burch at home; a daughter, Ernestine Wilson and
husband Rob of Boonsboro; sister, Virginia Moats of Silver Spring;
brother, Bud Kidwell of Orange, Va.; granddaughter, Misty Bitler of
Brunswick; great-granddaughter, Jenilyn Powers of Brunswick; and several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
She
was preceded in death by her parents.

take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20 at the John T. Williams Funeral Home,
100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, with the Rev. Noni Sigler and the Rev.

Mr. Warren Eugene Frocke Sr., 85, of
Washington, D.C., formerly of Brunswick, died Saturday, March 10,
2007 at the
Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C.
He was born April 6, 1921, in
Brunswick, son the late Asbury Boyd Frocke and Addie Marie Foster Frocke.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Brunswick. He
was a 50-year member of each of the following: Steadman-Keenan Post No.
96, VFW Post No. 10421, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1582, Fraternal
Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1136, all of Brunswick; and the Internal
Association of Machinists.
He is
survived by two daughters, Tracey Rubinstein of Glen Burnie and Mary Jane
Rice of Jefferson; two sons, John Boyd Frocke and Warren Eugene Frocke
Jr., both of Keedysville; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, his sister, Louise Crist; and one grandson.
A

Mr. John W. Breeden, 81, of Jefferson, died Sunday,
March 11, 2007, at his home with his family.
He was the husband of Gloris Dolores
Barger Breeden. They were married 57 years.
Born December
22, 1925, in Eagles, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jobe O. Breeden and
Lela C. Simons Willard.
Mr. Breeden
graduated from Brunswick High School in 1943. He was a member of the
United Methodist Church in Jefferson. He was also a member of the
Jefferson Ruritan Club.
Mr. Breeden
served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He
was employed at the Litten's Chevrolet Garage in Brunswick for 11 years as
an auto mechanic. Then he was employed at the National Institute of
Standards and Technology for 38 years. He retired from there on June 2,
2000.
Surviving, in addition to his
wife, is a daughter, Jayne G. Dallas and husband Mike of Germany; a son,
John W. Breeden II and wife Karen of Germantown; three grandchildren,
Cristina, Alexandra and Anna Dallas; three sisters, Lorraine Layman of
Frederick, Betty Smith of Jefferson and Drucilla Lake of Brunswick; and
two brothers, Robert Breeden and wife Cathy of Brunswick and Jobe Breeden
and wife Betty of Gapland.
The

Whitley, 85, of Arlington, Va., died February 3, 2007.
She was the loving mother of George M.
(Phyllis) Whitley Jr. of Vienna, Va.; dear daughter of the late William M.

She is also survived by two devoted grandchildren, Scott E. (Nadege)
