Michelle Lynn Brissey, 28, of 157 Bonnie Woods Drive, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002.
     Born in Fredrick, Md., she was the wife of Jimmy A. Brissey Jr. and daughter of John and Deborah Lance Taulton of Jefferson, Md.
Michelle graduated with honors from Fredrick Community College and was an associate of Ford Motor Credit. She was a member of Forrestville Baptist Church.
     In addition to her husband and parents she is survived by a daughter, Sandra Brissey, of the home; and a brother, Tom Taulton, of Jefferson, Md.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Thomas Mcafee Funeral Home, Northwest.
     Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Forrestville Baptist Church, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the residence.

Mr. Kenneth Merriman Class 1980

     Mr. Kenneth William Merriman, 39, of 4101 Olive School Road, Knoxville, died Wednesday, July 31, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     He was the husband of Carolyn Umbaugh Merriman.      
     Born Oct. 8, 1962, in Brunswick, he was a son of Betty Greenfield Merriman of Brunswick, and the late Bobby Merriman.
     Mr. Merriman was formerly employed as a service technician with McHenry Equipment in Frederick.
     He was a member of First Baptist Church at Brunswick. He also belonged to Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136 of Brunswick, and the National Rifle Association.
     Mr. Merriman was a 1980 graduate of Brunswick High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing the guitar.
     Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one daughter, Amber Diane Merriman, at home; two brothers, Donald R. Merriman and wife Debbie, and Thomas Merriman, all of Brunswick; two sisters, Penny McLane and Karen Cunningham, both of Brunswick; three half-sisters, Terry James and husband Tom of San Diego, Calif., Cindy Payne and husband Pat of Leesburg, Va., and Kathy Sears and husband Carl of Brunswick; seven nieces; eight nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
     Mr. Merriman also will be remembered by his friend, Michael Null.
     Mr. Merriman was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Anna Greenfield; and paternal grandparents, Lee and Kate Merriman.

     The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at First Baptist Church, 3 E. A St., Brunswick. The church will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
     Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the church, with the Rev. Daniel T. Spiker officiating.
     Interment will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.

Lillian J. Penner (Coulter) Class of 1944

SANFORD, Fla. - Lillian Jacqueline Coulter, 76, of Sanford and formerly of Knoxville, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Colonial Lakes Healthcare in Winter Garden, Fla.
     Born Aug. 26, 1926, in Pleasantville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jacob S. and Ivy Blanche Penner.
Her husband, Lawrence Coulter, preceded her in death.
     She was a 1944 graduate of Brunswick High School and a 1948 graduate of Frostburg State College.
She was a farmer's wife, school bus driver and substitute teacher.
     She was active in 4-H as a leader and in the Sandy Hook and Pleasant Valley PTA. She was one of the PTA members instrumental in the building of a modern elementary school in southern Washington County. She was involved in the SHARE program in Sanford.
     She was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Golden Rule Fellowship group.
     She also was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Hagerstown.
She is survived by two sons, Michael S. Bowers of Palm Bay, Fla., and Patrick S. Bowers of Knoxville; two stepdaughters, Joan Best and Sharon Coulter, both of Knoxville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Holly.
A memorial service will be held at Brownsville Church of the Brethren at the convenience of the family.

KNOXVILLE, Md. - Jerry Calvin Dodson, 55, of 4110 Shady Lane, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Shady Grove, Md.

Born Aug. 19, 1946, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Jennie Watcher Dodson of Knoxville, and the late Roy E. Dodson.

He was an engineer for International Union of Operating Engineers Local 99.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1582, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136, both of Brunswick.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick. The Rev. Carroll L. Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Petersville, Md.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.

Mr. Gary Virts Class of 1952

     Mr. Gary Marlin Virts, 67, of 744 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, died Tuesday, June 18, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Shriver Virts, his wife of 40 years.
     Born July 11, 1934, in Brunswick, he was a son of the late Orion Jacob and Madeline Moler Virts.
Mr. Virts was a retired civil engineer with 30 years of service for the Division of Public Works in Frederick County.
     He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville. For the last three years, he was a member of and assisted in starting Real Life Community Church in Hagerstown. He was a member of the choir, "One God and One Voice."
     Mr. Virts was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1957 to 1959.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Chris Chevalier and husband James of Hagerstown, and Susan Miller and husband Donn of Jefferson; one sister, L. Duane Smith and husband Lee of Ellicott City; four grandchildren, Matthew Brandon Miller, Daniel James Chevalier, Kathryn Danielle Miller and Joshua Gary Chevalier; one aunt, Elizabeth Wheeler of Brunswick; two nieces, Teri Alva of North Carolina, and Melinda Niles and husband Tim of Hampstead; and one nephew, James Johnston of Chambersburg, Pa.
     Mr. Virts was preceded in death by one brother, Noel Orion Virts.

     Mrs. Doris A. Caniford, 75, of Brunswick, who resided in Adamstown, died Friday, June 14, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     She was the wife of the late Jack F. Caniford.
Born July 26, 1926, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Clark G. and Lillian Speaks Price.
     Mrs. Caniford was a 1943 graduate of Brunswick High School. She retired from the National Geographic Society in 1991.
     She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 97, Brunswick, and Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Ranneberger and husband Phil of Adamstown; one sister, June L. Utterback of Knoxville; four brothers, Donald H. Price and Gary Price, both of Knoxville, Richard Price of Gettysburg, Pa., and Wayne Price of Lexington; two grandsons, P. Bradley Ranneberger and wife Cindy of New Market, and Gregory F.C. Ranneberger and wife Allyson of Libertytown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     Mrs. Caniford was preceded in death by one brother, Clark G. Price Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Betty Jane Price.

Mrs. Amanda R. Smith of 3746 Petersville Road, Knoxville, died Saturday, June 8, at Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick.
     Born in Jefferson, she was a daughter of the late Millard S. Sr. and Vivian Trego Smith.
Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Brownsville. She was a graduate of Brunswick High School.
     She was caretaker and supervisor for Bookings and Farmers Woods, Petersville.
Mrs. Smith was a Democrat and served at the polls as clerk. She was supervisor of St. Mark's Cemetery, Petersville. She was a member of the Tri-State Bluegrass Association Inc.
     She enjoyed gardening and tending to her many flowers.
Surviving are two sisters, Helen F. Smith and Gladys V. Smith, both of Petersville; one brother, Franklin C. Smith of Petersville; one aunt, Albina Wolf of Frederick; and a number of nieces and nephews.
     Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Sanbower and Doris L. Smith; and one brother, Millard S. Smith Jr.

Mrs. Donna S. Stewart Fleming, 59, of Oceanside, Calif., died Wednesday, May 29, at Tri-City Medical Center, Oceanside, after a short illness with cancer.
     She was the wife of Larry Fleming, her husband of 41 years.
Born Jan. 1, 1943, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of Doris Hoar of Brunswick.
     Mrs. Fleming was a 1960 graduate of Brunswick High School.  She was vice-president of information technology for Pacific Marine Credit Union, Oceanside, at the time of her death.
     Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are two sons, Todd Fleming and wife Christine of Cudahy, Wis., and Craig Fleming and wife Diane of Oceanside; one brother, Doug Stewart and wife Kathy of Jefferson; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Adam, Ashley and Amber.
     Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at First United Methodist Church, 7 S. Maryland Ave., Brunswick, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating.

Brent Eugene Hahn, 60, of 1601 Dual Highway in Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.
     Born Dec. 6, 1941, in Brunswick, Md., he was the son of Willie Eugene Hahn of Frederick, Md., and the late Elva Marybell Main Hahn.
     He was a 1959 graduate of Brunswick High School.
He was employed as assistant manager by Funkstown American Legion Post 211; and was previously employed by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 and Washington County AMVETS Post 10.
     He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Marksmanship Medal.
He had a band, Silvertones, and played in other bands, including country and western.
     He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42; VFW Post 1936 and a past member of the Color and Honor Guards; Williamsport Red Men; Conococheague Tribe 84; and AMVETS Post 10 and a past captain of the Color and Honor Guards.
     He is survived by his wife, Dee Hahn; one daughter, Stacey Hahn of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, Jason Hahn of Fort Lawn, S.C.; one stepdaughter, Belinda King of Hagers-town; one stepson, Jimmy Showe II of Hagerstown; two sisters, Joyce Kanche of Tigard, Ore., and DeeEtte Crutchley of Brunswick, Md.; one grandchild; seven stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; one niece; two nephews; one cousin and one aunt.
     Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Pastor Clyde Hardin will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, with military honors by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 and AMVETS Post 10.

Mr. Ernest Wineholt Class 1947

     Mr. Ernest L. Wineholt, 72, of 538 Brunswick St., Brunswick, died Tuesday, May 14, at College View Center, Frederick.
He was the husband of the late Betty Jane Powers Wineholt.
     Born Feb. 12, 1930, in Brunswick, he was a son of the late George and Eugenia Wineholt.
Mr. Wineholt attended Brunswick Elementary and Brunswick High schools, graduating in 1947.
     He enlisted Oct. 4, 1949, in the U.S. Navy, trained at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, and was assigned as a radarman third class aboard the USS Bexar APA-237. He was discharged Sept. 24, 1952 at the U.S. Receiving Station, San Diego, Calif., with a total of three years, 11 months and 21 days of service.
     Mr. Wineholt's service awards included the Navy Good Conduct, Korean Service, United Nations Service, and National Defense medals. Upon his return, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in the Brunswick area, until he retired in May 1981.
     He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Brunswick, and a life-member of Steadman-Keenan Post 96, of the American Legion, having served as post commander, past adjutant, Frederick County commander, and Western Maryland District commander. He later served as past adjutant for 13 years, officiating the Veterans Day Parade, and was a staff member for Boys State for 18 years. In addition, he also served a term as president of Fraternal Order of Eagles 1136 and was secretary for 10 years.
     Surviving are one brother, Ellwood Wineholt of Brunswick; two stepchildren, Patti Haller and husband Jimmy of New Cumberland, Pa., and Michael Powers and wife Linda of Libertytown; four grandchildren, Tammy Powers of Libertytown, Shelly Ford and husband Randy of Frederick, Jason Haller of New Cumberland, and Jeremy Haller and wife Tara of Etters, Pa.; one great-granddaughter, Megan Ford of Frederick; and several nieces and cousins.
     Mr. Wineholt was preceded in death by one brother, George Wineholt.
Mr. Wineholt will also be remembered by many friends.

KNOXVILLE, Md. - Mary Lillian Webber, 78, of 130-B Jefferson Pike, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at her home.
     Born Aug. 5, 1923, in Sandy Hook, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Maude Noos Price.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leo Webber.
     She retired from the Knoxville Post Office as a postal worker.
She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of Steadman-Keenan Post 96 of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136 and VFW Post 10421, all of Brunswick, Md.
     She is survived by two sons, Rhett O. Webber of Kunsan Air Base, Korea, and Tony Webber of Knoxville; a sister, Frances Webber of Brunswick; and two grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Karl Wagner.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick. The Rev. George Snyder will officiate.    Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery, Knoxville.

Mrs. Katherine Bryant-Snyder, 39, of Reston, Va., formerly of Knoxville, died Tuesday, March 12, at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Va.
     She was the wife of Joseph George Snyder.
Born Feb. 8, 1963, in Frederick, she was a daughter of Emory D. and Nancy Dunbar Bryant of Knoxville.
     Mrs. Bryant-Snyder was a human resources manager at TRW Inc. in Reston.
She was Roman Catholic. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from George Mason University.
     Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are one sister, Suzette Richwagen of Rosemont; two brothers, David Bryant of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Michael Bryant of Middletown; and two nephews, James Bryant and John Bryant, both of Harpers Ferry.
     There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Beaulah Mae Orndorff, 98, of 20 E. D St., Brunswick, died Tuesday, April 9, at her home.
     She was the wife of the late Clyde Raymond Orndorff.
Born May 11, 1903, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Bradley T. and Lillie Deihl Halley
     Mrs. Orndorff was a homemaker.
She was a member of Rosemont Alliance Church, Knoxville, where she taught Sunday school for many years, served on the church board, and was active in the Women's Missionary Prayer Group.
     Surviving are two daughters, Eileen O. Houlihan of Binghamton, N.Y., and Evelyn O. Best and husband Lee of Knoxville; four sons, Gilbert L. Orndorff and wife Roselyn of Ellicott City, Clyde Richard Orndorff and wife Joan of Brunswick, Bernard C. Orndorff and wife Nancy of Lovettsville, Va., and David L. Orndorff and wife Regina of Hagerstown; two sisters, Mary E. Gladstone of Leesburg, Va., and Lillie Palmisano of Orrtanna, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
     Mrs. Orndorff was preceded in death by five brothers.

     FREDERICK, Md. -Virginia Almeda Younkins Cooper, 89, of Frederick, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick.
     Born March 22, 1912, in Brownsville, she was the daughter of the late Orville B. and Martha F. Carter Younkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, the Rev. Herbert Austin Cooper, in 1999.
     She attended Bethany Bible School and received practical nursing training at Bethany Hospital in Chicago.
She was past president of the Women's Fellowship at Brothers Valley, Barron Ridge and Pleasant View Brethren churches. She was Junior Choir director and member of the choir at Brothers Valley Church.
     She organized and led the Girls 4-H Club of Burkittsville, Md.; worked with the Church World Service Center in New Windsor, Md.; and in 1975 and 1979 organized trips to the Holy Land.
She was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren.
     She is survived by two sons, Larry C. Cooper of Landenberg, Pa., and Lynn Cooper of Myersville, Md.; three grandchildren, Michael Cooper of Oakland, Md., Douglas Cooper of New Market, Md., and Laura C. Love of Nottingham, Pa.; two great-grandchildren; and one niece.
     She was preceded in death by one sister, Olive Younkins Higdon.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Frederick Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Paul Mundey will officiate. Burial will be in Old Brownsville Church Cemetery, Brownsville.

     FORT LOUDON, Pa. - Roberta Louise "Robbi" Reynolds, 35, of 20 Path Valley Road and formerly of Brunswick, Md., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at her home.
     Born Nov. 17, 1966, in Leesburg, Va., she was the daughter of JoAnna Wolfe of Mercersburg, Pa. and the late Lester Reynolds Jr.
She was formerly employed by Mack Trucks in Hagerstown.
     She was of the Catholic faith.
She attended James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg; and was a 1984 graduate of Brunswick High School.
     She was a member of Brunswick American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her stepfather, Ronald Wolfe of Mercersburg; one daughter, DiAnna Reynolds at home; one sister, Geri L. Reynolds of Knoxville, Md.; one brother, Kregg A. Reynolds of Knoxville; paternal grandmother, Marian Reynolds of Knoxville; one aunt; four uncles; one cousin; and a nephew.
     Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Larry Gesy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Marks Cemetery, Petersville, Md.
     The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.

Mrs. Ernestine Dolores Reynolds, 69, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, at her home.
     Born March 31, 1932, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late James Russell and Edith Wisner Pearrell. Mrs. Reynolds was a retired bank teller.
     She was a member of the South Strand Ruritan Club and Surfside United Methodist Church. She was a former member of New York Hill Methodist Church, Brunswick.
     Mrs. Reynolds enjoyed crafts and making angels.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, James Lester Reynolds and wife Carol of Brandon, Miss.; two daughters, Sandra Elaine Margeson and husband Mark of Horseheads, N.Y., and Brenda Gaye Hichborn and husband Richard of Woodstock, Ga.; six grandchildren; and five brothers, James R. Pearrell Jr., Owen B. Pearrell, Emerson E. Pearrell, Richard A. Pearrell and David L. Pearrell, all of Brunswick.
     Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Surfside United Methodist Church, 16th Avenue, Surfside Beach, S.C., with the Rev. Charles Inabinet officiating.

      BRUNSWICK, Md. - Eva Gertrude Albert, 85, of 115 9th Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.
     Born March 4, 1916, in Plain No. 4, Md., she was the daughter of the late Howard Eldridge and Cora Spurrier Burgee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Raymond Albert.
     She sold World Book Encyclopedias for 12 years and worked for the government for four years.
She was a member of New York Hill United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years, was a member of John Wesley Society, the Joy Class, United Methodist Women and Homemakers. She was also affiliated with First United Methodist Church.
     She organized and taught kindergarten for five years in Brunswick.
She was a member of the PTA and Senior Citizens at Brunswick.
     She is survived by a daughter, Connie Ahalt of Jefferson, Md.; two sons, Dennis Albert of Sharpsburg, and Brent Albert of Livingston, N.J.; two sisters, Doris Hoar of Brunswick, and Joan Giles of Denver; two brothers, William Burgee of Frederick, and Robert Burgee of Hyattsville, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlyne Frock; two brothers, Paul Burgee and George Burgee; and a stepsister, Hazel Gentzler.
     Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at New York Hill United Methodist Church, Brunswick. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.
     The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, which will be open after 9 a.m.

Mrs. Hazel Pauline Harwood, 83, of 36 W. Baltimore St., Funkstown, died Saturday, Jan. 26, at Homewood at Williamsport.
     She was the wife of James Newkirk Harwood, whom she married Feb. 7, 1942.
Born March 3, 1918, in Weverton, she was a daughter of the late William Moore and Martha Elizabeth J. Jones Himes.
     Mrs. Harwood farmed with her husband from 1943 until they retired in 1970.
She was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
     Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Bonnie L. Wotthlie and husband Richard of Mount Airy; one son, Robert Earl Harwood and wife Donna of Shippensburg, Pa.; two sisters, Esther Harwood and Virginia King, both of Hagerstown; and five grandchildren, James, Katherine, Donald, Damon and Thomas.
     Mrs. Harwood was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Gene Harwood; one sister, Pearl Thompson; and one brother, Earl Himes.
     The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Mrs. Dorothy Ann "Dot" Robinson, 64, of 540 White Oak Trail, Spring Hill, Tenn., formerly of Brunswick, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Williamson Medical Center, Franklin, Tenn.
     She was the wife of John W. Robinson Jr., her husband of 47 years.
Born May 8, 1937, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late John Lindsay and Pauline Southard Fairfax.
     Mrs. Robinson was a former employee of National Geographic Society.
She was a member of Knoxville Bible Church, Knoxville, Md.
     Mrs. Robinson was a 1955 graduate of Brunswick High School.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Kathy Craig and husband Tim of Spring Hill; four sons, John W. Robinson III and wife Pat of Falling Waters, W.Va., Patrick Keith Robinson and wife Sue of Beverly Hills, Fla., Richard L. Robinson and wife Rose of Basom, N.Y., and Mickey Robinson of Spring Hill; nine grandchildren, Ashley Craig, Amber Robinson, Carrie Robinson, Elisha Robinson, Timothy Craig Jr., Michael Robinson, Ricki Robinson, Michael Hilton and Paul Allen Robinson; and three great-grandchildren.
     Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by one grandson, Gary Wayne Robinson.

     Mrs. Mabel "Frannie" Cooper, 68, of 903 E. C St., Brunswick, died Thursday, Jan. 10, at Beverly Healthcare, Frederick.
She was the wife of Jerry E. Cooper.
     Born Oct. 24, 1933, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Eva Taylor Chaney.
Mrs. Cooper was a member of New York Hill United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Joy Class.
     Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Lora Faith Shores and husband Randy of Knoxville; one son, Greg M. Cooper of Brunswick; three sisters, Jeanette Cooper of Brunswick, the Rev. Noni Sigler of Knoxville, and Eva Sewell of Frederick; two grandchildren, David Shores and wife Kim of Brunswick, and Dawn Shores of Knoxville; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Shores.
     Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by a half sister, Leoda Crabtree; one stepsister, Mabel Chaney; and one stepbrother, Ralph Chaney.

Mr. Fred Younkins Class of 1931

       Fred Harley Younkins, 88, of 19614 Yarrowsburg Road, Knoxville, died Sunday, Jan. 6, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
He was the husband of Alberta M. Higdon Younkins, his wife of 56 years.
     Born Oct. 27, 1913, in Garrett's Mill, he was a son of the late Maltby C. and Ruth N. Phillips Younkins.
He had retired after 25 years as a budget analyst for the Department of Defense.
     He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army's 1st Armored Division in Africa and Europe.
He was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren and the building committee.
     He was past president and life-member of Pleasant Valley Ruritan Club, former member of Washington County Planning and Zoning Commission, member of Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion in Boonsboro and Brunswick Veterans of Foreign Wars, and played many years in the Washington County Amateur Baseball League.
     In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Marsha L. Deal of Bethany Beach, Del., and Jan M. Keefer of Waynesboro, Pa.; one son, Gale H. Younkins of Harrisonburg, Va.; and four grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by one sister, Rachel Higgs; and one brother, Earl Younkins.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

Mrs. Mary Eva Grubb, 77, of 137 Buttercup Drive, Hagerstown, formerly of Brunswick, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, at her home.
     Born Jan. 30, 1924, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Roy Wilmer and Charlotte Sheckells.
She was a retired assembly line worker at GM Parts Plant in Martinsburg, W.Va.
     She was a Lutheran.
She is survived by one son, William Mundey III and wife Debbie of Brunswick; two sisters, Ruth Griffith and Doris J. Sheckells, both of Brunswick; one brother, David Sheckells of Dunedin, Fla.; one granddaughter, April Mundey of Brunswick; one grandson, William Mundey IV of Charles Town, W.Va.; two step-grandchildren, Sean McKinney and wife Denise of Frederick, and Michael McKinney of Jefferson; and 11 nieces and nephews, including Mervin Joseph Griffith of Brunswick.
     She will also be remembered by her friends, Thelma Ritchie, Rhoda Helmintoller, Wilma Herbert and Jovan Porter.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Roberts, Roberta Sheckells and Eugena Sheckells; and one brother, Roy W. Sheckells Jr.

Miss Pauline VanPelt Class 1929

Miss Pauline C. VanPelt, 89, of Middletown, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     Born May 22, 1912, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late John and Sarah Brown VanPelt.
Miss VanPelt retired after 41 years as an educator with the Frederick County public school system. She was a graduate of Salisbury State University, and did her graduate work at Columbia University in New York. She was a teacher for many years at Middletown High School and retired as vice-principal at Middletown High after 16 years.
     She is survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate.
     Interment will be in St. Luke's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Brownsville.

Howard (Hardy) Gosnell Class 1942

Mr. Howard William Gosnell Jr., 77, of Lovettsville, Va., died Saturday, Oct. 20, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     He was the husband of Mildred I. Gosnell, his wife of 57 years.
Born Oct. 4, 1924, in Brunswick, he was a son of the late Howard W. Sr. and Lillian Virts Gosnell.
     Mr. Gosnell was raised in Brunswick. He was a 1942 graduate of Brunswick High School.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army with the 17th Infantry Battalion, stationed in Italy for 18 months, fighting in North Apennines PO Valley.
     Following military service, Mr. Gosnell worked 38 years, until his retirement, as a car inspector for the Baltimore and Ohio-CSX Railroad.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick, a life-member of American Legion, Steadman-Keenan Post 96, Brunswick, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10421, Brunswick.
     Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Susan Swain and husband John of Rogersville, Tenn.; one son, William Gosnell and wife Nell of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Katherine and Pete Gosnell of Memphis; one sister, Evelyn Ambrose of Knoxville; and one niece, Elaine Hoffman of Hanover.

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Jesse Leon Ault Sr., 55, of 511 W. Potomac St., died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
      Born Dec. 25, 1945, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George W. and Ruth Myers Ault.
He was a retired assistant lead custodian at Brunswick High School.
     He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Piper Ault; a daughter, Tammy Ault at home; three sons, Jesse Ault Jr. of Brunswick and Glenn Ault and Michael Ault, both at home; three sisters, Delores Kauffman of Smithsburg, Kay Hostler of Mannings, W.Va., and Debbie Hoffman of Fox Glen, W.Va.; three brothers, Jerry Ault of Sandy Hook, Md., Donald Ault of Charles Town, W.Va., and Ricky Ault Sr. of Brunswick; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Mr. Charles Gum - Class 1968

Mr. Charles Lloyd Gum, 51, of Dagsboro, Del., died Saturday, Sept. 1, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del.
     He is survived by his wife, Sandra Charlotte Gum.
He was born in Brunswick, a son of the late Ralph E. Sr. and Marie Davis Gum.
     Mr. Gum retired in 2000, after 31 years as a meat cutter for Safeway stores in Greenbelt.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Jason Gum of Jefferson; a daughter, Laura Gum of Baltimore; two sisters, Marie Sier of New Market and Mary Jane Cleary of Riverdale; and a grandson.
     He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph E. Gum Jr.
Visitation hours were held Tuesday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, Clarksville, Del.
     Funeral services and burial were private.

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Mary Charlotte Bolander, 79, of 17 Peach Orchard Court, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Frederick, Md.
     Born April 6, 1922, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late John Bernard and Ethel Juanita Miller O'Hara.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Bolander.
     She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Brunswick.
She is survived by four nieces, Sylvia Quesenberry, Patti Kern and Diane Wenner, all of Brunswick, and Bonny M. Wenner of Knoxville; and two nephews, Mark Moler of Knoxville and Benson Haller of Smithsburg.
     She was preceded in death by three sisters, Maxine Moran, Leona Moler and Patricia Werking; a brother, James C. Haller; a niece and a nephew.
     Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Park Heights Cemetery in Brunswick. The Rev. W. Phillip Fogarty will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Miss Janice Moore Kirk, 75, of 5629 Kirkland Drive, Frederick, died Friday, Aug. 24, at Northampton Manor Nursing Center, Frederick.
     Born Oct. 21, 1925, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Otho Willis and Elsie Mary Lou Moore Kirk.
Miss Kirk was a retired administrative officer for 40 years with Long Beach Naval Shipyard.
     She was a 1942 graduate of Brunswick High School and attended Golden West Community College.
Miss Kirk was a member and financial secretary at First United Methodist Church, Brunswick. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the United Methodist Women.
     Surviving are many cousins.
Miss Kirk will also be remembered by her friend, Deborah Sofley of Frederick.
     Miss Kirk was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Elaine Kirk.

FREDERICK, Md. - Donald Clinton Purdham, 78, of 40 N. Pendleton Court, died Tuesday October 5, 1999 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     Born Aug. 6, 1921, in Brunswick, Md., he was the son of the late Claud and Virgie Younkins Purdham.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Nelson Purdham, in 1995.
     He was a 1939 graduate of Brunswick High School.
He was employed by the federal government in the Veteran's Administration and the Department of the Army, retiring in 1971.
     He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific, the Philippines and Japan.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Frederick.
     He was a member of VFW Post 10421 in Brunswick; Chapter 356 AARP in Frederick; Chapter 409 National Association of Retired Federal Employees in Frederick; Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1508 and Steadman-Keenan Post No. 96, both in Brunswick.
     He volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Program from 1976 to 1991 and provided transportation to patients for medical treatment. He volunteered with the Internal Revenue Service.
     He is survived by a son, Kenneth N. Purdham of Frederick; and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brunswick. The Rev. Wayne Funk will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

     Born Nov. 17, 1925, in Lovettsville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Herbert and Rosa Simpson Painter.
She was a 1943 graduate of Brunswick High School.
     She retired from the Brunswick Citizen. She worked at Bon-Ton in Frederick.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church; and United Methodist Women in Brunswick.
     She is survived by her husband, Donald W. "Shelly" Dawson Sr.; two daughters, Donna Poffinberger of Jefferson, Md., and Pamela Keeling of Knoxville, Md.; a son, Donald W. Dawson Jr. of Frederick; four sisters, Ellen Cooper of Brunswick, Ann Koontz of Jefferson, Evelyn Ayers of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Maxine Hamilton of Hillsboro, Va.; two brothers, Eugene Painter of Frederick and Renace Painter of Lovettsville; and nine grandchildren.

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Katherine Bryarly Manor, 89, of 520 W. Potomac St., died Friday, Dec., 24, 1999, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
     Born Sept. 27, 1910, in North Mountain, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Bryarly Manor and Cora Naylor Manor.
She was a graduate of Brunswick High School and James Madison University. She did graduate work at Cornell University.
     She taught in Brunswick schools for 42 years. During that time, she was secretary, treasurer and vice president of the local PTA.
She was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick, a church school teacher, and served as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president of the former Women's Guild.
     She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, treasurer of the Alumni Association of James Madison University, and was a member of the Frederick County, state and national Retired Teachers Association. She also was a member of the board of directors of Brunswick Library.
      She is survived by three cousins, Marjorie B. Lakin, Eleanor V. Lakin and Patricia L. Lemkuhl, all of Boonsboro.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick. The Rev. Thomas P. Staup will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery in Petersville, Md.

BOONSBORO - Malcolm J. Webber, 80, of Reeders Memorial Home, and formerly of Chewsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
     Born Aug. 28, 1919, in Knoxville, he was the son of the late James G. and Oretta Swope Webber.
He retired in 1974 from Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown.
     He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Chewsville.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Isenburg Webber of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a son, James W. Webber of Falling Waters; two grandchildren; and two nieces.He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Webber.
     Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Mr. Donald William "Shelly" Dawson Sr., 75, of 6409A Weatherby Court, Frederick, formerly of Brunswick, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     He was the husband of the late Mildred Marino Painter Dawson.
Born Sept. 6, 1924, in Brunswick, he was a son of the late Thomas William and Della Mae Grams Dawson.
     Mr. Dawson was a retired owner and operator of Dawson's TV & Appliances and Shelly's Cleaners, both of Brunswick.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge 1582, and Steadman-Keenan American Legion Post 96, all of Brunswick.
     He was a 1943 graduate of Brunswick High School.
He served as president of the Brunswick Little League for 17 years and was a former Brunswick city councilman.
     Mr. Dawson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Arkansas.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Poffinberger of Jefferson, and Pamela Keeling and husband Pat of Knoxville; one son, Donald W. Dawson Jr. of Frederick; two sisters, Marion McGuinn of Randallstown, and Kathleen Malooley of Hanover, Pa.; one uncle, Beverly Dawson of Mount Jackson, Va.; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Poffinberger of Costa Rica, Jennifer Rosenbaum and husband Jason of Frederick, Jay Poffinberger of Jefferson, Shelley McLane, Charlie McLane, Willie McLane and Chiara Keeling, all of Knoxville, Shawn McLane of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ignacio Keeling and wife Jennifer of Raleigh, N.C.
Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Lee Dawson and Robert E. Dawson.

     Mrs. Rosalee Elizabeth McMurry, 86, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, and a resident of Vindobona Nursing Home, died Monday, Feb. 21, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
     She was the wife of the late James Francis McMurry, who died Dec. 19, 1989.
Born Feb. 4, 1914, in Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Roger William and Vera E. Albright Mills.
     Mrs. McMurry was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1931.
She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick.
     Surviving are one son, Jim R. McMurry and wife Darlene of Middletown; one sister, Delores Michael of Delaware; two grandchildren, James R. McMurry Jr. of Middletown and Selene May Stevens and husband Phillip of Smithsburg; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Jennings Stevens and Amanda Marie Stevens; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
     She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roger W. Mills Jr., Ausbin Mills and Douglas H.E. Mills; and two sisters, Ethel Blair and Dorothy Hickman.

EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Dorothy Bonnie Bingham Brubaker, 87, of Ewing Township, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Capital Health Systems at Fuld, Trenton, N.J.
     She was born in Weverton, Md., and was the daughter of the late David Howie and Edith Hightman Bingham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Claude A. Brubaker, who served as pastor of Wildwood (Mount Zion) Baptist Church, Bethesda, Md., for 37 years.
     She was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Brunswick, Md., Frostburg Normal School and received her bachelor's degree from Shepherd College.
     She taught elementary school at Brownsville, Md., and was an elementary teacher and principal at Yarrowsburg, Md.
Along with her late husband, she helped establish Deltona Lakes Baptist Church in Deltona, Fla.
     She is survived by a sister, Howie B. Kiser of West Trenton, N.J.; a niece, A. Melissa Kiser; a great-nephew; a step-granddaughter; a step-grandson and several cousins.
     Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church, Bethesda. The Rev. David Sayne will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Bethesda.
Visitation will be on Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

     Mr. Paul Edward "Froggy" Sigler Sr., 75, of Rt. 3, Kearneysville, W.Va., died Friday, April 14, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
     He was the husband of Peggy Hilliard Sigler.
 Born Dec. 4, 1924, in Stanley, Va., he was a son of Myrtle Stoneberger Sigler of Brunswick, and the late Dewey Leonard Sigler Sr. Mr. Sigler was a retired brickmason.
     He was a Methodist. He was a lifetime member of Brunswick Fire Department and Brunswick Ambulance Co.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters, Deborah Cubbage and husband Carroll and Darla Alexander and husband Blaze, all of Charles Town, W.Va.; two sons, Brian M. Sigler and Paul E. Sigler Jr., both of Kearneysville; two sisters, Elaine Heffner of Petersville, and Mary Manthos of Charles Town; two brothers, Thomas Sigler and Donald Sigler, both of Knoxville; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Born Sept. 7, 1910, in Taylorsville, Va., she was a daughter of the late Silas and Lilly Spring Loy.
     Mrs. Harper was a retired sales clerk at Moler's Pharmacy, Brunswick.
She was a 1928 graduate of Brunswick High School.
     She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Point of Rocks.
Surviving are three daughters, Myra Loy Poffenberger of Maugansville, Janet Fay Biller of Sterling, Va., and Nita Belle Zolonski of Alabama; three sons, John William Harper of Hadley, Mass., Ray Bentley Harper of Hagerstown, and Gerald Culler Harper of Bolivar, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

.Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Brunswick, he was the son of George Franklin and Gladys Sample Selby.  His wife, Anna Belle Hite Selby, died in December 1999
     He was a 1943 graduate of Brunswick High School. He retired in 1980 after 36 years with the Chessie System at Brunswick where he worked as a brakeman. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II.
     He was a member of New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick. He was a member of United Trainmen Union.
He is survived by nephews, Mark Stephenson and Curt Selby, both of Brunswick; and other nieces and nephews Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick.

    Born Aug. 13, 1920, in Brunswick, Md., he was the son of the late Charles Raymond and Lacy Viola Rankin Pentoney.
    He retired from the B&O Railroad.
 He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
    He was a member of Park Road Bible Church.
 He was a member of Brotherhood Railroad Trainmen; Masonic Lodge of Brunswick; and American Legion Post 96 of Brunswick.
    He is survived by his wife, Rosalie A. Spence Pentoney; two daughters, Kathy Elaine Stewart of Jefferson, Md. and Karen Pentoney Lewis of Hagerstown; a son, Larry Eugene Pentoney of Hagerstown; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by a son, George R. Pentoney; and a brother, Raymond M. Pentoney.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. Pastor Ron Key will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

     Mr. Robert J. Mullen, 61, of Chesapeake, Va., died Friday, May 26, at his home.
He was the husband of Judith Mullen.
     He was a general supervisor for the TTX Co., where he retired after 29 years.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years.
     He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose 1582.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sherri Mullen of Brunswick; one stepdaughter, Melissa Holt and husband Ron of Liberty Hill, Texas; two brothers, William A. Mullen of Philadelphia, Pa., and Richard P. Mullen of Lovettsville, Va.; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael E. Mullen.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 3, at noon, in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Petersville, by the Rev. Lawrence Gesy.
      Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

      Mrs. Edith May Cooper McCall, 60, of Knoxville, died Sunday, July 2.
She was the wife of Charles E. McCall Jr.
     Born Feb. 24, 1940, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of Mary Ann Thompson Cooper of Frederick, and the late Newton Cooper.
     Mrs. McCall was a 1958 graduate of Brunswick High School, and was employed with the Atomic Energy Commission, later the Department of Energy. She also worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, at the Pentagon; and prior to her retirement taught and was an administrator at St. John's at Prospect Hall.
     She was formerly a member of Rosemont Alliance Church, Brunswick.
She was an avid crafter, and loved basketry, ceramics, needlework and crafts.
     Mrs. McCall was a member of the Pseudomyxoma Peritonei support group, and the National Organization for Rare Disorders. Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are one son, Charles W. McCall and wife Carolyn of Myersville; one daughter, Tamara McCall-Muir and husband Denver of Brunswick; one sister, Marian Smith and husband Lee of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Muir, William McCall and Margaret McCall; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
     The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

     Mr. James William "Jimmy" Houck, 26, of 3659 Petersville Road, Knoxville, died Sunday, July 16, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
     Born Sept. 8, 1973, in Frederick, he was a son of Robert Eugene and Virginia Lee Titus Houck.
 Mr. Houck was a 1991 graduate of Brunswick High School, and received his associate's degree from Frederick Community College in 1993.
    He was employed at the time of his death as parts manager with Shenandoah Motors Inc., Front Royal, Va., and was a part-time em-ployee of Hemp's Meats, Jefferson.
    Mr. Houck was listed in the 1991 edition of "Who's Who Among American Students." He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church at Doubs, and of the Eagles 1136, Brunswick.
    Surviving in addition to his parents are one brother, Larry Allen Houck and wife Sandy of Dale City, Va.; paternal grandfather, Tolbert K.      Mrs. Mary Carver Bingham, 84, of Hertford, N.C., died Tuesday, July 18, at a hospital in Elizabeth City, N.C.
She was the wife of Horace C. Bingham. 
She was a native of Brunswick. She retired as a salesperson at The Famous after 18 years. She was a member of New Hope Methodist Church, in New Hope, N.C.
     In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Keith Bingham and wife Connie of Portsmouth, Va.; two sisters, Lucy Myers of Brunswick, and Betty Ridenour of Thurmont; and two grandchildren, Brian and Jeff.

     The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, 4614 Rivershore Road, Portsmouth, on Thursday, July 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

     Mr. Donald Lewis Danner, 79, of Catoctin Avenue, Frederick, formerly of Rosemont Drive, Knoxville, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, at his home.
     He was the husband of Mary Irene Danner, his wife of 43 years. Born Aug. 29, 1920, in Brunswick, he was a son of the late Harvey L. and Lucy Nash Danner.
     Mr. Danner was a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Burkittsville, where he taught Sunday school for many years. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed collecting trains and eagles. He was also known and will be remembered by many as "Mr. Fix-It." Mr. Danner was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
     At the time of his retirement, he was employed by the the Army Corps of Engineers as a diesel mechanic. He had also worked for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad as a brakeman in his earlier years.
     Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Melissa Danner Ross and husband Norman of Johns Island, S.C., Vanessa Irene Guyton and husband Byron of Burkittsville, Martine Marie Gue and husband Richard of Frederick, and Mary Beth Guyton and husband Phil of Myersville; six grandchildren, Wesley Byron and Jordan Lewis, both of Burkittsville, Travis Allen and Jolissa Marie Gue, both of Frederick, and Lacey Danner and Mikayla Noel Guyton, both of Myersville; a niece, Cathy Jaeger and family; and numerous nieces and nephews through marriage.
     Mr. Danner was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Danner; and a nephew, Michael C. Danner. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.
     Mr. Danner will be removed to Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Picnic Woods Road, Burkittsville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, with a one-hour viewing before the services.      Mr. Anthony Charles Creamer, 85, of Baltimore, formerly of Brunswick, died Sunday, June 11, at Franklin Square Hospital, Baltimore.
     He was the husband of Marjorie Dawson Creamer, his wife of 58 years.
Born Oct. 8, 1915, in Brunswick, he was a son of the late John and Frances Quinn Creamer. Mr. Creamer was a member of St. Francis of Assissi Roman Catholic Church, Brunswick.
     He was a graduate of Brunswick High School and served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He worked for Bethlehem Steel plant at Sparrows Point Shipyard, retiring from there in 1981.
     Mr. Creamer was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed collecting arrowheads and other Indian artifacts.
     He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association. Surviving are two nieces, Joan Shleuter of New Mexico, and Paula Fitzgerald of Chicago, Ill. Mr. Creamer will also be remembered by his friend Philip Ketner.
      Mr. Creamer was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Vincent Terry. Interment was in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick, with the Rev. Lawrence J. Gesy, pastor of St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church, officiating. Arrangements were by Connelly Funeral Home, Essex


Mr. George Orye - Class 1961

     Mr. George P. "Mickey" Orye, 58, of 10 East E St., Brunswick, died Monday, Sept. 11, at his home.
He was the husband of Patricia Beatty Orye.
     Born Aug. 15, 1942, in Brunswick, he was the son of Naomi B. Harsh Orye of Brunswick and the late Clement D. Orye.
He was a 1961 graduate of Brunswick High School.
     He was employed by J.J. Crewe and Son Inc. in Buckeystown as an electrician. He was formerly employed for 26 years by Rotorex Co., Walkersville.He served in the U.S. Air Force with the 862nd Trans Sq. (SAC) from June 27, 1961 to June 25, 1965.
     He was a member of the New York Hill United Methodist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church, both of Brunswick. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 1136, Brunswick. He devoted many years of coaching and volunteering to Brunswick Midget Football and Brunswick High School football, on and off the field. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
     In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter, Dana M. Hall of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three sons, Paul A. Orye and C.D. Orye, both of Brunswick, and Chad E. Orye of Charleston, W.Va.; two brothers, Jerome Orye of Brunswick, and Drew Orye and wife Donna of Pembroke, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jenna Hall, Jamie Hall, Brian Orye, Michael Orye and Troy Orye; his mother-in-law, Rosa Beatty of Brunswick; two sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Martin and husband George of Frederick, and Joyce Mohler and husband Wayne of Brunswick; and many nieces and nephews.
     He will also be remembered by friends Bill Muchesko, Christie, Brittany, Patty, Bonnie, Doug, D.J., Billy and Melinda. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jessica Marie Hall.
     The family will receive friends at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
     The funeral home will be open Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home. The Rev. Daniel T. Spiker will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Memorial contributions may be made to Brunswick Ambulance Co., 200 W. Potomac St., Brunswick, Md. 21716.

Ellie Mae Edwards (Wright) - Class 1941

Ellie Mae Edwards (Wright) passed away this year 2000 around July, after a lengthily  illness.  There was no local obituary found.

     Mr. Walter Davis Baker, 58, of 518 W. Potomac St., Brunswick, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Shirley Baker.
     Born Aug. 16, 1942, in Lucketts, Va., he was a son of the late Otho Don and Minnie Estelle Carnes Baker.
Mr. Baker was a custodian at Brunswick Middle School.
     Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Melanie Dawn Hough and husband Bruce of Boonsboro; one granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Webber of Boonsboro; three sisters, Hilda Jenkins of Fredericksburg, Va., Ethel Baker of Leesburg, Va., and Peggy Westhaver of Bealton, Va.; and three brothers, Maniel Baker, Ronnie Baker and George Baker, all of Berryville, Va.
     Mr. Baker was preceded in death by one sister, Pearl Baker; and one brother, Charles Baker.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Mr. Richard Pry - Class 1974

 Mr. Richard Scott Pry, 44, of Needwood Farms, near Burkittsville, died Friday, Oct. 20, from injuries received in a tractor-trailer accident in Baltimore.
      He was the husband of Tina Cartee Pry.
 Born Aug. 1, 1956, in Hagerstown, he was a son of Richard Lee and Patricia M. Foltz Pry of near Burkittsville.
     Mr. Pry was a 1974 graduate of Brunswick High School. He was the fourth generation to actively work the family farm. He was employed full-time as a school bus driver with Frederick County Public Schools. He was also a truck driver with Richard B. Rudy Transportation Inc., Frederick.
     He was a member of the Maryland Small Farm Cooperative.
 He was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Burkittsville. He enjoyed spending his spare time hunting, fishing, and traveling with his family.
     Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are one son, Keith Scott Pry, at home; one stepdaughter, Lacy MacKenzie, at home; one stepson, Joshua MacKenzie, at home; one brother, Timothy E. Pry and wife Gail of the Burkittsville area; two sisters, Kelli Wilson and husband Raymond of the Burkittsville are, and Vicki Gordon of Jefferson; his maternal grandmother, Ida Lee Foltz of Reeders Nursing Home, Boonsboro; two nephews, Mark Pry and Jackson Pry; one niece, Allie May Wilson; and numerous aunts and uncles.
     Mr. Pry will also be remembered by his son Keith's fiancee, Julie Huf.
 Mr. Pry was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Outerbridge L. and Helen Wolf Pry, and his maternal grandfather, Perry E. Foltz.
     The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.
 Mr. Pry will be moved 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Burkittsville, where friends may call until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Mr. Pry's pastor, the Rev. Andrea J. Ernest, will officiate.
     Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Burkittsville.

Mrs. Norma Nuse Robinson - Class 1945

Mrs. Norma Robinson, 73, of Springfield, Va., died Friday, Nov. 3.
     She was the wife of Henry Page Robinson.
Born Feb. 15, 1927, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Earney L. and Sadie Nuse.
     She is survived by three daughters, Tery Talisnik and husband Michael, Sandra Robinson and Cynthia Seaton; one son, Michael Robinson and wife Johana; one granddaughter, Samantha Peacock; and one brother, Ernest L. Nuse of Brunswick.
     Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, at First Baptist Church, 1 A St., Brunswick.
Interment will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.

Miss Jacqueline Coffman - Class of 1943

 Miss Jacqueline Harriet Coffman, 73, of 1931 N. Cleveland St., Apt. 413, Arlington, Va., formerly of Brunswick, died Monday, Dec. 25, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
     Born Feb. 26, 1927, in Strasburg, Va., she was the daughter of Frank and Grace Yates Coffman.
She lived in Arlington, Va. for 40 years.

     She retired from the Department of the Army as a Small Arms Ballistics Program Liaison.
She had attended First United Methodist Church, Brunswick.

     She is survived by four nieces, Tammy Long of Warrensburg, Mo., and Karen Gramp, Connie Altfather and Debbie Plues, all of Strongsville, Ohio; and two nephews, Peter Benben of Newburg, N.Y., and Brian Benben of California.
     She was preceded in death by her 11 siblings.
Family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick.
