Briefly What Happened Since Leaving School In September 1941, I enrolled at the U.of Md, from which I received a degree in history. From 1945 to 1951, I did graduate work in that subject, with time out in the academic years 1947-1950 as an instructor at Carnegie Tech (Carnegie-Mellon) Pittsburgh. In 1950, I married Virginia Goodwin of Bethesda, MD. We had two children (David and Laura) Ginny and I taught in the U. of Md. program in Europe in 1951-52. After a year at Howard in Washington, I taught four years at Southern State in Magnolia, Arkansas for four years and then from 1957 until retirement in 1988 at the U. of Wisconsin--La Crosse. My main interests were in U. S. social history, higher education, and faculty governance. Since retirement, I have helped in the university's oral history program, edited some manuscripts, and traveled a good deal in Europe
